Tap at Union Square location: Pours orange/amber with a head that becomes a ring. Sweet aroma, seems buttery, with mild a allspice presence. Mild carbonation. Sweet, buttery malts start off the flavor, followed by a hint of festive spices (nutmeg/allspice). Seems artificial to me. Close to being decent, just gets a bit phony and astringent.

Imagine the faintest possible pumpkin aroma you could have and still say you're serving a pumpkin ale withouth blushing. Fairly bitter. Faint pumpkin/gourd taste. There may be slight cinnamon notes in here as well.

Draught sampler at Empire State Building location. A lot of people consider pumpkin beers to be little more than a gimmick, and I can’t always argue as some of them are pretty awful. But when they’re on, I really dig ’em - and this one is most definately on. Colour is a lovely autumn gold. Aroma holds lots of spice notes - nutmeg, clove, cinnamon - with some sweetness from the honeyed pumpkin. Flavour is like pumpkin pie in liquid form, but there’s also a good beer in there, and the flavours mesh perfectly. Sometimes the spicey sweetness of these beers can get cloying, but this one is well-balanced and refeshing. Very nice stuff.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 pivo (2540) - GERMANY - JAN 1, 2005
I like the idea of pumpkin beer and look forward to getting my hands on it when the season comes around. This was a fairly decent sample. Nice dark orange color and low head. Dull but broad pumpkin flavor that blends well with the malt. Cinnamon end. Full body. Got a slightly cardboardy aftertaste, but otherwise quite good.

The beer has the orange appearance of a pumpkin, and it’s actually appealing. The aroma is dominated by pumpkin, nutmeg and spice. The flavor is malty. with clear pumkin influence. Slight hop biterness on the finish. One of the better pumpkin ales.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 scraff (2121) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - SEP 27, 2006
Clear orange, creamy white head. Nose held notes of warmed pumpkin pie and spicy cinnamon. Good spiced flavor throughout with just a touch of hop bitterness late. Light to medium bodied, light carbonation, spiced bitter finish. It’s decent, but not a standout...

BEcause of the plethora of pumpkin beers I’ve had this fall, I’m going to stick my nose up at this one. Everything about this beer passed the pumpkin ale test, but it failed to amaze me. My wife digs the pumpkin beer so we both has this a few times on our visits to New York. Cloudy reddish amber colour. Meidum whitehead. Some initial clove, pumpkin and allspice on the nose . Taste was soft with the spices, not as much as i expected and was hoping for. Decent fruit and breadiness on the palate. But overall, just another passable pumpking brew.

Brewtopia 11/12/05 Deep golden in color with a small white head. Aroma is all spice-cinamon,ginger, with no real pumpkin charcater in either the aroma or flavor. Another example of a spiced beer, where’s the pumpkin?
