kujo9 (1043), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA Nov 4, 2004 Pinkish amber w/ some orange hues. Very oakey, like fresh cut trees. Honey comes through as it warms, very little blueberry aroma. Light alcohol and fruitiness, but it doesn’t seem like blueberry. Well balanced w/ acidity, some buttery flavors; fruitiness is higher in flavor. Flavor is still woody, and there seems to be a little bitterness. My inexperience with meads hinders my ability to know where the bitterness comes from...maybe the oak, maybe the acid? There is a light blueberry flavor as it warms, honey flavors are very apparent. Semi dry finish. Smooth & light medium body, alc. is warming. Seems to have too much wood flavor to me, probably a bit young and would mellow with some aging.
