kujo9 (1044), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA Jun 3, 2006 750 ML wine bottle: Medium light amber honey colored w/ a slight tint of pink, brilliantly clear. The most dominant aroma is woody oak, followed by honey and hints of cherry. Almost cherry wood like, not cherry fruit like after it warms a bit. Light perfumey alcohol aroma as well. Some hints of unripened green pears. Flavor is well balanced, but again, very oaky flavored dominance. Cherry and honey flavors are there, but need to be a little more pronounced because they are buried by the oak flavor. Lightly sweet up front, dries out slightly in the finish and aftertaste which is lightly cherry flavored. Dry m/f, lightly warming alcohol, heavier light body. My second Melomel from this place and they both have a very strong oaky, wood character, and could be a little less for my palate. Not bad though, but I’ve definitely had better.
