COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We like to call this a Northwest Amber Lager, but it is often categorized as a Vienna style lager. The beer originally started out resembling a Steam BeerĚ style beer, but weíve slowly been dropping the fermentation temperature to the point where itís really just a lager beer, and too smooth, to fit that category. The color looks like a Vienna style lager, but the amount and type of hops, and the grain bill are quite different. We use Magnum and Cascade hops in this beer, and they blend well with the American (51%), German (43%) and British (6%) malts we use. The beer features strong hop character, along with smooth malt, caramel, and toffee flavors and aromas, with a refreshing bite in the finish. This beer goes really well with pulled pork and brisket. 22. Alright, this right here is a pretty serious effort at a California Common. Before we go any further, cheers to Heater Allen for that. Pours a hazy rubied medium amber with a dense, creamy tan head that fades quickly to a loose film and decent stringy lace. Gorgeous tangy hop nose, plenty of pine in there on top of a nice load of caramel. Creamy medium body with plenty of lively carb. Toast, caramel, biscuit, and pine on the mid palate, with a nice clean herbal hop wash for a finish, with a tiny bit of resiny linger. This might give Anchor Steam a run for its money, and thatís saying something.

Bomber thanks to Mike. Pours a deep clear amber color with a medium white head. A sweet fruity nose. The flavor is earthy, crisp, some rich caramel, grainy, some light bitterness. Very clean and nice.

Reddish brown, sizey beige head. Smells like rye toast, with a touch of grass. Smooth and crisp palate. Hints of caramel, stone, rye and grass. Nice depth of flavor.

3rd Noble Beer Sangha: From bottle, thanks to Jesse, pours murky topaz with beige halo. Malty, bready aromas present in flavor, along with noble-like hop flavors. Medium-lean mouthfeel, dries out wonderfully. Solid, bold lager, yet not etheral.

Deep copper with a smooth off-white head. Nutty caramel up front, smooth with a medium bitter finish and some fruitiness. The hops don’t come through as much as the bobtoberfest, but the malts give that nice warming feel that I got out of it. Another solid offering of theirs.

Bottle... Poured a deep amber with an off-white head. Malty aroma with a vegetable-like quality. Light, sweet flavors with a mild bitterness. Big malts with a short, crisp finish, with the Cascade Hops shining through.

Bottle from Belmont Station. Pours clear copper with a large frothy white head. Aromas of citrus and stone fruits. Medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is caramel with lots of citrus and light stone fruit. Malt harshness is not subdued. It leaves an impression of underlying paper. Gets fruitier with time. Goes mildly astringent. Itís a pretty tasty beer after some struggling. Bitter, but not excessivelly so.

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2012 22 oz. bottle, pours a clear amber with a small off-white head. Nose is fully of dry woody caramel malts, some dry pilsner-like hops and bready tones. Flavour follows almost exactly the same, with dry, slightly woody, caramel malts, bready malts and a wonderful dry hoppy bite on the finish. Exceedingly drinkable and pretty much the pinnacle of this style. Solid stuff.
