3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours with a hazed amber hued body with a medium sized off-white head that fades. Aromas of honey-nut cherrios, malty, grapenuts, melanoidins, nutty, munich, rich, burnt caramel, raisins and figs. Clean fermentation wise. Flavors show a light chlorine initially. Very dry and a bit thin. Grapenuts and a dry malt character. No body at all (and I like dry beers normally). Malt character is decently deep. Medium melanoidins, cereal, nutty. Very clean yeast component. Medium to lively carbonation. Dry but quite thin. Decent dopplebock. Not as flawed as a lot of attempts, but it still misses the mark a bit.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 ounce bottle purchased at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Aroma has a little bit of a metallic, bready, and toasty character. Not much else. This is a bit lacking, and more reminiscent of a Dunkel, actually. Transparent amber colored body present with a medium light tan head. A little light in color. Starts with a chewy, sweet, husky and grainy maltiness. Somewhat musty in the middle. Nice caramel maltiness present, to finish. This is very reminiscent of Andescher Doppelbock...and that’s a good thing.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber from Corti Brothers. Pours dark copper with a yellow beige head. Aroma is somewhat treacly with med dark fruits. Med body or so. Flavor is a little treacly, a touch cola, and arguably with a little plum fruit. Not at all sticky. Could be some noble hop. Nice.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. bottle about 3 months from the bottling date. It pours a deep reddish color with a medium sized orange head. The aroma is definitely Munich malt focused with lots of fruity cherry, raisin bread, fig and just hints of earthy hops. The flavor is really nice with more fig, raisin bread and slight hints of coffee to go along with solid earthy bitterness. A little alcohol shows in the finish, but the maltiness is very rich and tasty. Great mouthfeel as usual with HA beers. Tasty stuff.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
The beer is a deep amber brown and fairly cloudy. The head is creamy and beige. Not much in the way of lacing. The aroma is rich with nutty malt sweetness. Pleasant caramel tone. Some perfumey dark fruitiness. Cherries and raspberries with plums and dates. The taste is sweet and full of more malt goodness. Nothing cloying about it though. Clean finish with light hop bitterness. Toasty, bready malt character shows off the depth of the style. Mild herbal hoppiness. Creamy, full mouthfeel. A bit low on carbonation, probably appropriate for the style. Tasty beer.

Bottle from Berkeley Bowl West. Pours medium brown with a huge beige head and a toffee aroma. There is a medium-bodied roasted malt and dark friut flavor that is fairly sweet, but with a more bitter finish.

Pours two fingers of head on a clear dark straw body.
The aroma has a strong cotton candy smell, not bad.
The taste is nice, sweet with a touch of bitter in the middle to end.
The texture is sticky and thicker.
A solid doppelbock.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Two bottles from the Made in Oregon store at PDX, the only place I found the doppelbock, unfortunately stored on a room temperature shelf, so the freshness is suspect. The first bottle seemed in decent shape and the higher alcohol and rich dark malt seemed to hold up well - little oxidation, maybe a little too high carbonation but otherwise it seemed fine. Rich chocolate and coffee malt nose with fig, plum and black cherry dark fruits, very savory. Clean fermentation profile. Sweet, chewy, medium-bodied, balanced bitterness and acidity. Medium high carbonation, lively and frothing. A dark caramalt beauty of a bock that seems straight out of Germany. Quite good.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle with MJ. Thanks Mike! Pours a brownish orange appearance with a cream colored head. Caramel/toffee, somewhat roasty malty, somewhat fruity/plum, light chocolate aroma. Lightly nutty, toasted caramel malty, toffee, brown sugar, fairly dry, plum/fig fruity flavor. Not hard to drink at all but a bit of a disappointment.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle thanks to Jcr! This one poured clear with the a hue of dark tarnished copper with a light brown head. Nose was rich with toasted nuts, dark caramels, rich sweet bread and just a touch of coffee. Flavor was similar with a sweet rich bready malt flavor with just a touch of roasted like malts to add complexity. Medium sweet finish and really wasn’t that large of a beer by today’s standards. My only beef with this beer was that it was way overly carbonated- not infected, just over carbonated it seems which hurt the mouthfeel and the the flavor but other than that 3 or 4 swirls in the glass and it was good.
