raymow (738), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 13, 2006 Excellent sweet and fruity aroma and a great amber color. Taste is sweet (but in a good way) with an alcohol background. Interesting and different (also in a good way). FistFullOfCats (162), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Dec 27, 2005 Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a ok soapy, off white head. Head goes away pretty quick. Aroma is...odd. Wine? Pine. Strawberry. Flavor of...strawberry bug juice. Pine sap. Super light malt. Finishes with malt, wood, saccharine. Body is pretty standard, not too watery. Eh, this is ok, but strangely enough tastes artificial, like a diet soft drink or something. Normally I’m all for trying these traditional brews, but this was not too great. JonMoore (1561), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England Dec 25, 2005 Bottle. Reddish brown colour with a creamy slim off-white head. Very nice aroma of fruit and malt. There’s a new taste in there to me, which I assume is pine related, but it is good. A variety of nice malt flavours and fruit also present. Dry spicey finish, with a creamy texture. Very impressed. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA Dec 21, 2005 Sampled at a 2005 Christmas and Winter beer tasting at Delilah’s, Chicago, IL. 2003 vintage. Clear amber ale having a small diminishing white head. Light fruity malt aromas. Medium bodied that starts with fruity, jammy (like strawberry preserves), and light sweet malt flavors. Finishes dry with light malt aftertaste. Honestly, for beer made with spruce tips and pine branches, I wasn’t expecting much from this beer so I was pleasantly surprised by what an excellent malty beer this turned out to be. Tasty! wilkie (1189), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Dec 19, 2005 Bottle. Brown-red, with a medium off-white head. Aroma is herbal, and slightly malty. Flavor is very pine, and reminds me of cranberry? Spicy pine flavors are prevalent all through the beer. Delicious in a very different way. I really like it. blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 18, 2005 Bottle. Best before Dec. ’05. A little over a year old, it should be fine. Pours a cloudy amber-brown with lots of sediment and an average size diminishing white head. Sweet aroma of fruit and pine. Flavour of sweet fruity malt with a mild bitter aftertaste. Medium bodied. Different and flavourful, this is pretty good. Ungstrup (14758), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 15, 2005 A slightly hazy red beer with a huge light brown head. The aroma is sweet and very fruity combined with notes of citrus and pine forest. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of caramel combined with a citrus/pine note giving it a spicy note. The citrus/pine gives a really good balance to the sweet caramel. The end is dry and quite spicy again with the pine coming thru. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA Dec 14, 2005 Pours a clear amber color. Aromas of pine/malts and a touch of citrus/berries. Flavor is a little different. I thought it would be more pine tasting. A little berry flavor and some hop bitterness near the end.
