CampbellWilson (533), Scotland Jan 1, 2005 Bottle from Green Welly Stop, Tyndrum. I like this one a lot. Fruity citrous aroma with honey, orange and a little pine (suggestion??). Rich mouthfeel and good sweetish, vinous flavour. Slightly wersh dry finish. beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Dec 31, 2004 Pours a cloudy amber color with a medium white head. Strong aroma of pine. Weird, sweet flavor of pine with malt. Light to medium body, creamy texture. Feels like drinking Pine Sol ... sethdude (600), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Dec 29, 2004 Pours a marvelous unpastuerized cider color, with an easy white head on top. Aroma is sweet and malty, slight wood and faint pine aroma. Flavpr is sweet, malty, woody, and faint pine. Whoah. Deja Vu. Slight alcohol and a bitter, dry finish. willblake (2160), Belcamp, Maryland, USA Dec 15, 2004 12.15.04 330ml bottle best before Dec 2005. Murky orange brown like a rotten tangerine and smallish, sporadic head. Earthy aromas, lightly musty, dusty, and mulch; some wet wood. Sweet aromas with a breadish/doughy snap like a lager. First sip and (akk!) I know it needs to warm, it’s at 45F right now. Letting it ease to 50 and higher, more mulch sweetness emerges on the nose and carries into flavor. A sweet mix of flavors are totally unexpected: berries, wet wood, pencil eraser, olive oil. I don’t get much pine, but plenty of earth and wood. It’s good; even better because it was a birthday gift and a beer I might not ever have purchased myself. BuckNaked (1204), Tempe, Arizona, USA Dec 15, 2004 Bottle, best before 4/2006. Dark orange-amber with a small white head. Aroma is very sweet, sugary malt, fresh spruce, pine sap, alcohol, apple, peach, earth. Taste is sweet & bitter, with notes of spruce, spicy pine, apple, light pepper, alcohol, berries. Finishes slightly watery with light fresh pine. Medium bodied. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Dec 5, 2004 Bottle. Best before end of 6/2001. Small clear head, no lacing, no visible carbonation, murky, and an orange brown hue. Scotch, sweet, rich, some pine notes, and an alcohol aroma. Flavor was sweet, bitter, complex, and rather strange IMO. Mostly smooth mouthfeel. Medium bodied beer. The aroma was the best part of this one IMO. igel (196), New Mexico, USA Dec 1, 2004 Amber/orange color. I tried to roust the head, but to no avail. Super low retention and a slippery lace. Light carbonation. Aroma is of caramel, malt and sugar and earthy. Taste is quite unusual. I had expected something like Scotch ale, but is more complex. The pine flavors create the bitterness to balance the sweet, with a lingering bite. Mouthfeel is medium boded and watery. Interesting style. pintbypint (1002), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Dec 1, 2004 330ml brown bottle. Hazy orange. Strong smooth white head. Spruce evident in aroma. Quite a sweet start, spruce and pine notes meld with fruity malts. Strong alcohol in the finish.
