dirkules (613), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 2, 2004 This has the best aroma of any beer I have come across in ages! We’re talking buttery caramel, toffee, chocolate, dates, burnt marshmallow... the colour is purple opaque brown with a soapy head. The taste is earthy, a bit more watered down than the smell indicates, bittersweet malt, spruce... fantastic find! thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Oct 29, 2004 Pours a reddish-brown with no head. Aroma is very creamy and full. Flavor is very berry. I can get some raspberrys and blackberrys as well as cherries. Overall it is very sweet and tart. Probably nothing i would get again but worth a try. MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark Oct 26, 2004 Bottle. Semi-sweet, standard bitterness. Not too distinct pine flavour, but enough to give a hint. Interesting enough, but gets boring after a while. joergen (8429), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 26, 2004 Reddish colour with a fine white head.
Hoppy pinearoma. Sweet taste of malt, pine and alcohol.
Nice and interesting beer. TheRimmer (483), Florida, USA Oct 22, 2004 The aroma is sweet malts, just like the others i’ve had from forth, but it sequed into scents of pine. Now the pine was a tad overpowering in the taste, but it dissipated and a highly fruity blend washed in. Tastes extremely port like. However, 2 hours later, I am belching up the most god awful pine cone, tawny port bubbles. i swear to christ im melting my teeth with em. very complex beer, lots of flavor, just not habit forming. appearance: dark amber hue, with a nice, creamy white head..not bad, not bad
Aroma: fresh and fruity, oddly, I don’t get the pine at first...soft,creamy...yum...
Taste: mmmm, smooth, sweet, yummy, creamy,...why don’t I taste the pine? I’ve had this before, but not for at least 2 years, or, even 3, if my memory works...yeah, I get it now, the sensation of walking through a pine forest...fresh and zesty...piney-ness is much less than you’d find in a highly-hoppy IPA...but the flavor is fruity, yet dry, yet creamy...yum, tasty, apple-ish, cherry-like, full in flavor, medium bodied, nice, nice, nice...or should I just say, very nice!
jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Oct 10, 2004 Slightly hazy amber colour with a smallish hazy tan head. Aroma of brown sugar, caster sugar and raisins-NO pine! Medium-bodied; Sweet initial taste with, once again, NO pine and no spices to speak of. Aftertaste a bit bittering, but overall-more sweet than spicey. A decent beer overall, but truly more was expected from this one I’ve seen for the past 2 years! I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased by Andy at Premier Gourmet on 29-May-2004 at the Eastern Shore in Virginia. JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Oct 1, 2004 Bottled. Copper-coloured with a thick lasting white head. Oddly malty aroma with a very herbal character. Butterscotch, fruit, and soapy. Flavour of sweet malts and bitter herbs, although nothing I would identify as pine or spruce per se, but definitely a herbal woodsiness. Finish is rich, malty, and bitter. Doesn’t seem particularly hoppy, but still bitter.
