goldtwins (4079), Nesconset, New York, USA Aug 20, 2004 Small white head. Clear copper color. Aroma is fruity and floral with light alcohol as it warmed. Light thin body fruity with a moderate but balanced spice. Alcohol more evident as the beer warmed. rlgk (3377), Vårgårda, Sweden Aug 14, 2004 Yellow/amber, not much head. Aroma from caramel and raspberries (?). Flavor is fruity, the raspberries is there again. I find this somewhat artificial. larsniclas (3383), Gothenburg, Sweden Aug 12, 2004 Bottled.
Hazy amber.
Yes, it has a piny aroma and flavour.
Rather sweet and bitter. Boystout (900), Chisinau, Moldova Aug 9, 2004 Amber to orange to amber colour, thin head (served at 13C). Like a dry jerez with piny and woody aroma and palate. Uncomparable. Frank (1064), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 29, 2004 I’ve now tried all three of Forth’s top rated beers and I have to say this is the only one that’s worth a Scottish damn. It pours a really lovely dark amber with thing ring of head that leaves a few spots of the old lace. I was expecting a big whiff of pine in the nose but what I got was much more fruity. I’d probably describe it as berry or tutti-fruity if I had too. The pine does come out in the flavor though but it’s not really at all the kind of a piny flavor that you get from hops. It’s more vague than that, sort of a sharpness. It’s somewhat ironical to me that hops taste more like what I’d expect actual pine needles to taste than actual pine needles do. Ha! Anyway, as is common with this brewery I found the palate to be somewhat thin but in this case the carbonation was quite active, feisty even, lending a refreshing touch. I can taste the alcohol here as well but it’s not so bad as it works pretty well with the fruity spruce notes. Altogether, I’d say this was more of a worthwhile curiosity than a great beer. Goblincat (356), Westland, Michigan, USA Jul 22, 2004 Pours a light rusty color, with minimal head and lacing. Notes of malt and caramel, some pine and floral mixed in. As far as taste goes, this one seems pretty complex. Drinking at room temp brings out many tastes, such as woody pine, spice, barley, and malt. It has a warming finish with the alcohol poking out a little. An odd but decent brew. JK (2946), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Jul 10, 2004 Updated: Sep 4, 2007Aromas of carmel, chalk, malt, and pine., with all of the same in the flavor. Sweet malt and heavy palate, with a chalky dryness. A very fine looking beer; dark brown with a head that lasts and leaves a lace on the glass. Aftertaste is dry with pine. Unusual and good, and for me that deserves a very high score.---------Ages well. obisbeer (558), Barcelona, Spain Jul 6, 2004 Cloudy dark brown amber with fine brilliant white head. Pine sap, malt, cherry? with some citrus on the nose. Slight prickle, pine mild malt, medium mouthfeel, lingering forest?, slight sweetness, with a drying finish. Nice and refreshing and strange to say the least.
