Good Aroma and Appearance are the only nice things I can say about this beer - because when I tasted it, I had to make a ’AAAUUUGHHHHBBBLAAH’ sound or something like that to express the horror that had touched my tounge. NOT GOOD, not good at all - Bad..TERRIBLE taste in fact.

First of all, do NOT drink this cold. I didn’t read the bottle until after I had poured a refridgerated bottle into a frosted glass. Yuck. After it warmed back to room temperature I tried it again. It was a little better but this is definitely not my cup of beer. Too much going on, and alcohol flavor kept coming in waves. Wonderfully complex aroma and appropriately woodsy coloring, but I don’t think we were meant to drink trees.

Nut brown. Medium bodied. Fruity. Nice, but where’s the pine?

I thought this was the best of the heather ales offerings until I had the Elderberry Ale. This is pretty good, it stands on its own as a decent ale. The pine is the most noticable additive of all of the heather ales series.

contains scots pine and spruce shoots! it was thick and flavourful - each sip brought something new and it all mingled together well. very interesting.

Amber cloudy ale. Light candy and fruit aroma. Strange flavour, mix of ’fruity’ sweetness and hops; probably rasins. Palate not interesting.

I haven’t really been too impressed with Heather Ale Ltd. beers but his is one of their better ones. It’s interesting and tasty.

Does’t some brewer (Sam Adams?) use the line, ’this is not your father’s beer? Well I’m not sure this is anybody’s beer. The brewer, Heather Ale Ltd., Scotland UK alleges that this is a traditional recipe so who am I to doubt it? Fruity, complex aroma, looks like prune juice, and has a hint of the taste as well. Piney notes are fleeting but definitely noticeable. As recommended, I drank it out of a wine glass, though I cheated and chilled it slightly. I liked this strongly flavored, low carbonation, winey brew. But in small quantities only. One 11.2 oz. bottle and I’d has enough. I would try it again though. Also, I paid $1.99 for the bottle. Whoever paid $5.00 a bottle needs to find a new store.

Very impressive! Cloudy, with no sign of a head. Very winey and I served it at room temp. which really brought out those flavors. Would buy again, even at $5 a pop.
