Bottle. Pours copper/brown with a thin off-white head. Wow, the aroma is a total malt-festival. Caramel, toast, toffee, and milk chocolate all are very prevalent. Flavor is sugar sweet caramel with maple syrup, some dark fruit, and a mild pine finish.

Pours dark amber with minimal head. Aroma of dark fruit, citrus and pine-sol. Flavor matches aroma nicely. Nicely done.

12 oz Bottle-poured a dark copper color w/a small off white head. Had a sweet, fruity, floral arona. Strong up front roasted barley malt flavor, did have a touch of a pine/christmas tree tint to it. Sweet bubblegum flavor w/a touch of spice. This was a little different, but it was very enjoyable-a true "Scotch Pine". Moderate sweet minty finish.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 dnas2 (705) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - JAN 4, 2008
Bottled. Cloudy ruby-copper in appearance, with no head but a lot of bubbles. Scent is quite malty with lots of berry fruit, particularly raspberry and strawberry. Very carbonated but with a smooth, syrupy mouthfeel. Quite bitter, some sweetness and a dry end. At the front, I was mainly getting strawberry jam, and some grapes, almost wine-like, at the back. There was some pine present, but I really wouldn’t have noticed it if it wasn’t on the label. Nevertheless, very unusual, and nice.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 jake65 (2166) - Williston, North Dakota, USA - SEP 15, 2006
Bottle: pours a murky brown and amber color with a small head. Aroma is malty with pine notes. Taste is a well rounded blend of pine, malt, raison, fruitiness, and even a bit nutty. Finishes with that nice little pine note. Well done pine flavor without an overwhelming sense of chewing on a pine needle!
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 KingpinIPA (841) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 15, 2006
Cloudy amber with partials floating around. Smell of grass, pine, hops, malt, wood, sugar, syrup, citrus and herbs/spices. It’s like walking into a forest for a brief second and also it smells like a pine air freshener that is hanging from a taxi cab mirror. Taste of pine oil, malt, hops, sugar, grass, citrus, hints of chocolate and licorice. Bitterness and a little alcohol taste at the end. Very different beer.

Bottle. Poured dark orange with medium white head. Aroma of pine, smelled like a blerrie Christmas tree. Sweet taste, pine, resin and sugar. Sweet finish. I will sip this, and limit myself to one. It’s good, but rather too sweet for many
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 jonno (1457) - JAPAN - NOV 7, 2009
Interesting beer. Like an unusual tripel. Nose is pinapple and a curious character that must be the pine. Moutfeel is solid with hints of tropical fruit and sugars. A nice change.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 dmac (2658) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - APR 24, 2007
330 ml bottle. Pours a ruby amber color with a quickly fading head. Aroma was sweet with honey dominating the aroma and reminding me of a mead with slight alcohol as well. Pine and spruce aromas were very faint. Mouthfeel was sticky with minimal carbonation but very pleasant. Flavor was of honey, wood and earth notes. This is an interesting beer and if it was good enough for Vikings then it’s good enough for this Viking fan.
