Apr 22, 2009 Bottle poured a clear dark brown with garnet highlights and a lingering ring of brown foam. Aromas of charcoal, roasted malt, earthiness, bakers cocoa and light elderberry. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a lightly dry finish. Flavors of roasted malt, charcoal, bakers cocoa, light elderberry and light earthiness with a crisp dry roasty finish.

Apr 15, 2009 Hell if I know what elderberries smell like, but this is earthy and pithy, dark and roasted in the glass with a small consistent tan head. Ripe berry, earth, stemmy wood, sweet, chewy and amazing. Swirls with complexity, great beer.

Apr 7, 2009 Bottle from Cracked Kettle. Pitch and oily dark with thin tan head. Nose of smoke, cherries and berries. Flavour of vanilla definitely, and chocolate all around. Very creamy. Nice cloying finish. Sweet and chalky. Nicely done.

Apr 7, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark brown body with an off white head. Sweet tart elder berry notes, hints of plum licorice, sweet malt an some tannins. Vanilla and a hint of wood. Sweet with a berry start and a tangy licorice finish. Not bad.

Mar 27, 2009 This is really very good. Dark smoky elderberry flavours mask the strength. The mouth feel is very soft with chalky hints. The finish is mellow, slightly sweet with hints of elderberry. I’ll say it again, this is really very good.
