COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered
Ingredients: Malts: British Pale Ale Malt, Cara Malt, Malted Wheat. Heather, Bogmyrtle.
The Brotherhood have been guardians of the ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) since 1988 and are proud to be the only brewery still producing this unique style of beer and distributing it world wide. A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt character, and a spicy herbal finish - This beer allows you to literally pour 4000 years of Scottish history into a glass.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.

Bottle. Pours a dark yellow-gold color. Thin off-white head that dissipates quickly but leaves some residual lacing. Aroma is floral, grassy with hints of grain. Flavor is a mix of floral with sweet malt and clover honey. Light bodied and very dry finish that borders on astringent. Light, easy-drinking and sessionable, but not something I would probably seek out.

Degustate in bottiglia da 33 centilitri. All’aspetto giallo chiaro, buona schiuma, abbastanza persistente. Mediamente carbonata, gusto fresco. Il sapore fluttua tra due poli il fruttato che ci sembrava fragola invece sembra sia mirto e l’erbaceo che avevamo identificato come un eucalipto invece sembra sia Erica. Caratteristica ma poco consona al nostro gusto.

Pours amber, clear, ring of white head. Sweet floral aroma. Flavor is vegetal and a bit soapy, but not in a bad way. Mellow.

Yellow with no head. Aroma is malty and a bit herbal. Smells (and tastes a bit) like the mash stage of whiskey. Tastes like it has undertones of honey, and the herbal/heather flavor is pleasant. Sweet without being sticky.

Bottle. Pours clear golden with a pillowy white head. Aroma is spicy, floral, yeast. Flavor is also spicy and floral, though a bit less spicy, with honey on the finish. Enjoyable.

Bottle, and a caveat up front that this one has been sitting around for a while. Admittedly, I shouldn’t rate this, but a) there’s 1300+ ratings already and b) how many people put in a rating based on a 3 oz pour 4 hours into a beer festival. I digress. Anyway, pours amber with a soapy head that recedes quickly into a bubbly film. Aroma (again, likely due to the age) - feels syrupy...dark and citrus fruits...generally malty, minimal bitterness. Flavor is sweet as well (and this does jive with other comments)...catch some herbaceous notes...malts, candy sugar...ok. Palate feels thin...with ample carbonation to suggest its not due to the age. Meh...ok...

Been drinking this for years, can’t believe I’ve never rated it! Clear and golden with a small white head. Floral aroma, taste is also floral with some malty sweetness. Good

Bottle thanks to Ottfather. Pours a clear golden with a small, white head. Aroma has fruity malts and yeast, artificial fruit juice, some floral notes. Taste is sweet, grainy, light fruity, light citric. Metallic, barf ...

Bottle thanks to Vestergaard. Pours clear golden with a small white head. Aromas of plants, floral, berry juice, malt. Taste is so bad. Wow. Planty, pale malts, herbs. Fuck me this is bad

Served in a snifter from a 500ml bottle. Pours clear gold colour with a beautiful thick white head which leaves nice lacing inside the glass. Aroma is yeast, bread, grass, notes of honey and floral. Taste is bread with hints of yeast, floral and refreshing, nicely balanced. Light body with medium carbonation. Extremely nice and smooth beer and, in my opinion, very harshly underrated here.

This seems much lighter and less flavoursome than I remember. Light, sweet, soft, not hoppy. Very floral
