Commercial Description:
Bottle. Filtered
Brewed in Scotland since 2000 B.C. heather ale is probably the oldest style of ale still produced in the world. From an ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) it has been revived and reintroduced to the Scottish culture.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.
A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt charachter, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.
Recommended with rich and Spicy foods.
Drink slightly chilled from a fluted glass.

330 ml bottle. Pours a hazey orange or amber. Slight pumpkin or spice to the nose. I do like this beer although it is my least favorite of the Scottish Sampler pack. Still good though.

11.2oz bottle, courtesy of my brother. Thanks, Phil! Pours a hazy, peachy orange color; off-white head with good retention and glistening lacing. Kind of an odd aroma: floral notes, various soft spices, and dog food; nicely floral somewhere in there, but hard to get around the dog food / stale wet malt note. Not mouthwatering. Medium mouthfeel: chewy floral and spice notes (very soft, herbal), basic sugary malts, and touches of that wet malt / dog food note again (though less pronounced than in the aroma); very odd beer; relaxed carbonation. Lengthy finish: stale floral notes, wet malts, and basic sugar.

Good head on misty orange/gold ale meek carbonation.Aroma malty, sweet scent, mild honey like.Flavour sharp really hangs on,heather has a wild stimulating pineapple/apricot taste, very decent ale in body.It has a dryness to it which is almost perfect at the finish and the taste is sharp and lasting .

Ottima.

Aroma is malty, light fruit. Taste is very one dimensional. Malt with a floral aftertaste. This makes a decent "hot day" beer. Easy to drink.

Aroma is sweet matls, with scant detectable hops, sweet fruits, suggesting berries, and figs. It’s color is a golden translucent color, akin to a cider, with a thin white collar. It’s flavor is a light sweet fruit and malt, with berries. The palate is like a champagne, light dry, w/ moderate effervescence.
