Gooseberry Wheat Ale
From the Gaelic "Groseid". Since at least the 16th century Scots monks and alewives brewed indigenous drinks from cereals, wild herbs and ripe fruits. Tibbie Shiels green Grozet was immortalised by such Scots literati as Sir Walter Scott, Jas Hogg. (The Ettrick shepherd) and Robert Burns whoconsidered it a most convivial drink.
Brewed with lager malt, wheat, bog myrtle, hops and meadowsweet then secondary fermented with ripe Scottish gooseberries.
A pale golden beer, with a refreshing fruit aroma, clean palate, fruity wheat flavour and crisp finish. Recommended with, light foods, pastas and salads.
Drink well chilled in a tall glass.

Golden hazy yellow with a very small creamy off-white head. Skunky smell with yeast and light flowery, honey sweetness. Thin light body with soft carbonation. Tastes of gooseberries, nice smooth toasted malt, wheat, citrus. Starts nice but finish is bland dry and watery.

Not impressed. In fact, not impressed at all. Clear yellow body with huge head. Taste is somewhat sweet, but really drab with a hint of sour, surely from the gooseberries. That’s the only highlight of the beer, along some lemongrass and citrus notes. Not bad, but surely not impressive, I will probably not try it again.

Big white head doesn’t last. Clear yellow body. Fruity resiny lemongrass aroma with menthol and citrusy gingery notes. Dryish fruity spicy lemongrass taste with gingery notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish resiny gingery lemongrass aftertaste with fruity wooden notes. Interesting and different. Works pretty well, too. (0.5l bottle, from Cornelius, Edinburgh.)

330ml bottle. Pours a clear, golden yellow with a thin, white head. Aroma has notes of caramel, wild berries, floral, and hints of wood. Taste is balanced. Berry notes but not sweet with bread, caramel, floral, and like a twiggy/herbal woodiness. Medium body and carbonation. Clean in the mouth with a slightly dry finish. Overall interesting. You do get the berries but it isn?t sweet. Bread, caramel, berries, and a clean finish.

Bottled. Slightly hazy pale yellow color with a fine white head. Aroma is quite peppery, yeasty, breaddy and fruity, notes of citrus and herbal. Flavor remembers me a German pils, light bitter and sweet. Lively carbonation and oily texture in a medium body, bitter dry finish. Good beer, nice drinkability.

Surprisingly herbal nose with faint wheat, hay and confectioners sugar. Gooseberries come through more on the taste, which is lightly tart, crisp and a touch medicinal. Simple ale with some weird infusions. Aight. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

0.33 bottle. Clear, pale gold color and a medium, white head. Aroma of gooseberry of course, grapes, and some pale malts. Taste is really soft; gooseberries dominate this insubstantial source of flavor. Medium body, slick texture, and average carbonation. Finish is long and quite true to the promise of gooseberries - as a matter of fact it is the best part of the entire experience. Overall a mediocre brew, could be better obviously.

Bottle at Haket in Gothenbourg. Smell of pine and butter. Similar taste, malty with pine and butter.
