Commercial Description:
Bottled. A cask version at 4.5% is available in August and September.
Gooseberry Wheat Ale
From the Gaelic "Groseid". Since at least the 16th century Scots monks and alewives brewed indigenous drinks from cereals, wild herbs and ripe fruits. Tibbie Shiels green Grozet was immortalised by such Scots literati as Sir Walter Scott, Jas Hogg. (The Ettrick shepherd) and Robert Burns whoconsidered it a most convivial drink.
Brewed with lager malt, wheat, bog myrtle, hops and meadowsweet then secondary fermented with ripe Scottish gooseberries.
A pale golden beer, with a refreshing fruit aroma, clean palate, fruity wheat flavour and crisp finish. Recommended with, light foods, pastas and salads.
Drink well chilled in a tall glass.

Bottle shared with a friend. Floral scent. Flavours of oak, wheat, cardamom. Highly unusual beer. Didn’t fancy any of these much.

Pours a light gold, with little head. Indistinct, fruity aroma. Flavor is honey and gooseberry, sweet and tart, with a subtle wheat aftertaste. Pleasant and refreshing, but unremarkable.

11.2 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy gold with a moderate linen white head that lasted until mid glass and left partial lace. Very light aroma of wheat and a few whisps of gooseberry. Basically indistinct. The flavor is actually quite nice with a noticeable amount of gooseberry and some wheat notes. Smooth at the finish with virtually no bitterness. Refreshing. Went well with my hamburger today for lunch.

Bought as part of a 4-bottle Scottish ale set from Oddbins. Great gooseberry taste, nice clean mover.

Golden with an orange hue to it. Had a decent taste, kinda like Cheerios and berries with a decent wheat aftertaste. I’d buy it again, but not in a 6 pack.

Bottle (in NZ - labelled as "Williams Bros Grozet"). Poured a clear gold with a pure white foamy head. Limes and berries in the aroma, a touch soapy. Lime again in the mouth and also again sudsy. But the palate is smooth and the finish is a pleasant moderate dryness.
