3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
A - Dark brown/red with 1 finger of tan head.
S - Roasted malts, cocoa powder, prunes, raisins, hints of soy sauce, alcohol.
T - Follows the nose, roasted malt, mildly smoked soy sauce, slightly brackish. The finish reminds me of watered down coke in way.
M - Medium thin body, low carbonation.
Didn’t get any seaweed notes. The malts are nice but are very mellow and a bit watered down.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Aroma dark, mildly chocolate, slightly cereal with a glint of sea breeze as advertised. Interesting. Black / Cola in appearance with a thick off-white head. Bubbles are quite large. Ever so slightly salty, a little metallic. Some unusual tastes and I do appreciate the seaweed addition and can detect this but in general the beer does not excite me.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A colablack beer with a medium nad beige head. The nose is nice, strong salt liquirice, sweet chocolate and roastines, hint of lactose. Taste is roasted and slightly chocolate, some salt liquirice and herbs. In the end there are some unique herbal like taste. Maybe also some sea salt or then it’s my imagination. At least, the salt is there with salt liquirice. Only light bodied, and thus, the taste is quite short. The good aroma and also rich of flavours, only light body is slightly disturbing. The good beer.

16.9oz bottle, from Jungle Jim’s in Fairfield. Shared with caterwaul. Bottle says Best before Feb. 2014. Very dark brown color. Thin bubbly khaki head. Good ropes and bits of lace. Nice briny and roasty aroma. Some dark chocolate in the finish. Medium-plus body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Lightly soft. Moderate sweet taste, lightly savory / salty. Interesting beer. I dig the seaweed component.
