Bomber from Wegman’s Lake Manassas. Pours a clear copper color with a thin frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of wood, spicy, citrus and herbal hops, pale biscuit malts with just a touch of caramel. The taste is citrus hops, candied citrus, caramel malts, wood. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, moderate lingering bitterness and a good bit of sweetness. Almost too much. Decent.

3.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Was weary of this being a clearance and an oak-aged dipa. It is the 2013 vintage. Hardly any aroma at all besides stale grain and some oak. Flavor is suprisingly good. A bit boozy but nice oak flavors to go with some earthiness, citrus, and mild bitterness.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Fresh bottle from Premier. Initially getting creamy orange hop flavour and some oak, then much booziness. The booze just attacks and attacks, rather than the hop in your face flavour. Still good drinkability for a late nightcap.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft notes from Craft Ale. Pours hazy copper with off-white head. Nose was caramel malt, oak, hops, fruit. Tasted malty, caramelly, somewhat sweet, pretty dense on the tongue, with a caramel malt flavor up front, then notes of hops, fruit, and oaky vanilla.

On tap. This year’s Big DIPA is aged with oak spirals, which I believe warrants a separate entry.. Clear red-orange color. Good, thin creamy off-white head, good retention, leaves good lace. Bigger body. Good, smooth creamy texture. Nice earthy, herbal hops.. Nice light caramel malt, which is noticeable but takes a backseat to the hops. Definitely tastes like there’s oak wood influence in here, which works nicely with the beer. Still assertive, smooth, and drinkable. More bitter than sweet. Alcohol not noticeable, very drinkable for 10.5%, works well with the flavor. Very tasty stuff.
