4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAR 20, 2006 Great beer. Big bite of hops (herbal, floral, grapefruity, piney) without overloading the senses. May have a "complexity" with some malt in the background, but was enjoying the hops too much. Excellent beer.

Cracking open the bottle and a blast of hops erupts from within. Poured into the glass and this bronzen brew is covered with a bone-white small head that dissipates quickly but leaves interesting lacing. Intense hop aroma with a little bit of sweetness beneath. The hops add much to the flavor without being so overly bitter that they purge your tongue of taste buds. A refreshing IIPA.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Grassy, grapefruit, herbal hop nose with some underlying caramel malt sweetness. Hazy pale copper coloured body is topped by a low, white head that diminishes to partial cover with some lace. Grapefruit, grassy, herbal hops over clean, fresh malt base. Light medium body with lively, pointy carbonation. Sampled at Kennett Square Brewfest. 2005.

Bottle. Thanks to JIMBOWOOD. Purs an golden orange color with a small white head. Aroma composed of fresh hops, flowers, with notes of spice. Tastes of grassy hops, with citrus notes. Finishes with a doughy malt pine taste. Thin to medium body. A good beer all around.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAY 8, 2006 Bottle: pours to a solid golden amber, totally clear, with a small white head that seems to last all the way through. Aroma is has plenty of hops, showing mostly spicy/floral notes, bitter citrus, and light dry grass. Taste is dry grassy hops, bitter leafy hop, dry spicy citrus, light lemon, then a hint of earthy/bready malt, and pale malts towards the finish. The hops mostly take over in the finish, but there is a slight pale grain taste to go with the bitter/floral/spicy hops. Medium bodied, though it does seem just a bit light at times (not that Iím going to fault an IPA for that), and for some reason it seems to be just a bit underattenuated. Iíd like it to be just a bit drier, but regardless of personal preference itís a solid example worth your time. Re-rate: Much drier than when I first rated, excellent light body that matches the bitter and flavorful hops while not showing any alcohol. This one has quickly become one of my favorites.

A nice orange pour. Aroma is strong on hops. The taste is rather hoppy, but well balanced with malt. A lot more flavor then most IIPAís iíve had.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This IPA pours a orange gold color from a 12 oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is floral and piney hops, sweet caramel and fruity malts. A medium bodied Imperial India Pale Ale. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are floral and citrusy. Not very bitter for an imperial IPA but has a nice hops profile. Nice balance. Smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. Thanks to the Atlanta crew for sharing this one.

I would never have guessed Double IPA. Too light to fit that category. Still is was good. It had a nice buttery taste to it and was more malty then hoppy.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
A decent beer, but not for an IPA. Would be a great Pale Ale. The flavor was nice and citrusy, great hop flavor, but just not enough of it. The body was too thin. For 7.5 %, it is suprisingly fragile and weak. This beer is in NO WAY shape or form a double IPA.
