Our flagship beer, Loose Cannon wins people over at first smell. The carefully cultivated interplay of Simcoe, Palisade, and Centennial creates a most fragrant IPA—its nose bursts with notes of grapefruit, herbs, and pine. Bitterness is somewhat subdued by the floral quality that pervades the taste. The color is burnished gold, and the mouthfeel is creamy. A strong malt backbone balances out the triple-hopped beer. Its nickname, Hop3, comes from the brewing process: our brewers hop Loose Cannon in the boil, the hopback, and the fermenter. It won a second place CAMRA award at the 2010 Great British Beer Festival.

12 oz bottle, served in a plastic cup. Pours clear dark orange golden, with thin creamy off-white head. Aroma is rich sweet lightly roasty caramel malt, light aromatic hops on the back. Taste is thick sweet caramel malt, creamy mouthfeel; hops are vegetal and linger bitter through the finish. Quite malt driven. Big, rich IPA; could use some more nuance and flavor from the hops.

Clear, dark Amber/Orange color with a smallish, foamy beige head. Scent of green pine cones and overripe peaches. Clean & crisp, initial citrus hop bitterness with sweet malt following close behind and tailing off with a lingering bitter aftertaste.Has a hint of mineraliness as well. Decent beer, reminds me of a cross between a Left Coast IPA and a British ESB.

12 oz bottle. Translucent orange with a short white head. Light lacing. Aroma is sweet citrus, flowers, and hops. Light body, juicy, oily. Oranges, really mild hop bitterness. Sugary malts, touch of pepper.

Fresh bottle, great hop aroma, mostly mild pine, moderate citrus, with some sweet. Great taste with perfect bitterness and hop balanced with delicious sweet malt. Awesome beer. Like a bells two hearted but more flavorful, sweet, and hoppy. Piney finish and after tasted. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle served in a Sam Adams lager glass. Feb. 2012 date. (from 2011 notes). This pours a light orange-amber, with a moderate but durable bone head. The head leaves a good bit of sticky lacing. The beer is slightly hazy, and there was some sediment left in the bottom of the ’emptied’ bottle. Visible carbonation all the way to the end. The sweet citrus and herbal nose is very pleasant and very consistent with the flavor. The flavor is, of course, not sweet, but it is not very bitter either. There is a big, balancing malt component in this IPA. Feel: good medium+ carbonation; near medium body. O: a very drinkable IPA with a substantial sweet malt balance making this drink more like a pale ale. In fact, I’ve had pale ales that were more hoppy.

Pours a clear amber-orange. Has a really sweet aroma of apples and other fruity hops. A stronger fruity flavor than expected, but also with some caramel, malts, and some hops.

Draft at the Irish Pol. Crystal clear dark orange amber. Soapy white head. Light splashes of lace. Not much aroma (when cold). Medium body. Semi-creamy mouthfeel. Simcoe hops are most forward. Earthy leafy citrus. Oranges spiked with cloves. Forest floor. Thistles. Baby pinecones. Truffles. Dried tangerine peels. Gently sweet. Faint toffee. Black peppercorns. Smooth spicy finish. Very nicely constructed hop brew.
