Bottle pour. This may have the unfortunate advantage of going first on a night where I’m going to sit down and have a bottle of this, Great Divide Titan, Stone IPA, Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA, Racer 5 IPA, and Bell’s Two Hearted Ale. Oh is this going to be a glorious night or what. Anyhow, pours a small white head that thins out pretty quickly. Aroma is a honey/hops/ a touch boozey which I didnt expect, but not too strong. Taste is where this beer is great, hop forward western style with lingering citrus hops on the backend, a bit floral as well. This one had to go head to head with Titan IPA from great divide. Dont get me wrong, these both are great IPA’s, but Titan wins in a landslide. The appearance of Loose Cannon is better, but titans floral and citrus hop aroma with a honey malt backbone, and the taste to go along with it beats the Hop3. If you are looking for a great IPA though loose cannon is great, just not titan. On to the next beer!

Best before January 2013.
Appearance: The body is light amber that is very clear, lots of medium sized bubbles rise to the average sized light tan head. The head has poor retention but settles into a thin coating over the entire surface.
Aroma: The aroma is malty, probably due to it being a bit old, with toasted malts and caramel with a very light pine and grapefruit bitterness.
Taste: The flavor is hoppier than expected from the aroma with a moderate grapefruit bite that has a slight peppery spice to it, the malts come in a bit stronger in the mid taste a touch sweet with the hops providing more of an orange flavor, rather than bitterness. The finish is a bit malty with orange.
Palate: Medium bodied, full texture, with stabbing carbonation.
Overall: This is a solid IPA, even a bit past it’s prime. I would like to re-visit this fresh.

2/2/13. Bottle. Pours golden-amber with a very small white head. Aroma is excellent; great aromatics, floral, fruity, citrus,, pine, grapefruit, caramel. Taste is also very nice; citrus, fruity, caramel, bitter lemon rind, pine, maybe some juniper. Well balanced; very drinkable. Nice lacing. Wet, clean mouth feel. This beer is great for all that it is and it truly excels in its availability. This is a high quality IPA that is always available. That is awesome.

12 oz bottle from Baruni’s in Baden, PA. This has got to be one of the better mainstream IPA’s out in the market. Creamy without the bitterness of over hopped IPA’s. Don’t miss this one.

From bottle. Pours orange with small head. Aroma was faint for a big hop beer. Taste had malt and bittering but was thin and uninspired.

Orange brown pour, smallish white head. Citrus hop aroma. Big citrus hoppy flavor with a decently nutty malt balance. Quite smooth.

Pours a clear gold with a white head with lots of lacing. Aroma is sweet malt and grapefruit. The taste is citrus, malt and a bitter hop finish.

Draft->pint. Copper with frothy whitehead. Malty with faint citrus hops. Metallic aftertaste. Disappointing. Unless the keg/tap had problems, this is very over-rated.

Pours a light gold with a thick white head. Aroma of malt and slight bitter hops. Taste is malty with a side of hops. Average ipa, nothing exciting ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

It poured a pale straw honey color and had some nice spotty lacing that left light rings that were barely noticed as the beer went down. The smell was sweet and floral balanced with the malts and hops. There is some pine in the smell but almost barely noticed. Some faint grapefruit presents itself as well. The taste was sweet and floral as well. The palate was mostly medium, but did seem slightly watery. Overall, I like this and would come back to it.
