Our flagship beer, Loose Cannon wins people over at first smell. The carefully cultivated interplay of Simcoe, Palisade, and Centennial creates a most fragrant IPA—its nose bursts with notes of grapefruit, herbs, and pine. Bitterness is somewhat subdued by the floral quality that pervades the taste. The color is burnished gold, and the mouthfeel is creamy. A strong malt backbone balances out the triple-hopped beer. Its nickname, Hop3, comes from the brewing process: our brewers hop Loose Cannon in the boil, the hopback, and the fermenter. It won a second place CAMRA award at the 2010 Great British Beer Festival.

Hazy golden orange in color with a small, disappearing white head. Smells very citrusy with a faint spiciness. Taste has lots of grapefruit with a small peppery finish. Medium body with light to medium carbonation. This is a great tasting IPA with excellent drinkability.

12 oz bottle served in a Sam Adams lager glass. Feb. 2012 date. (from 2011 notes). This pours a light orange-amber, with a moderate but durable bone head. The head leaves a good bit of sticky lacing. The beer is slightly hazy, and there was some sediment left in the bottom of the ’emptied’ bottle. Visible carbonation all the way to the end. The sweet citrus and herbal nose is very pleasant and very consistent with the flavor. The flavor is, of course, not sweet, but it is not very bitter either. There is a big, balancing malt component in this IPA. Feel: good medium+ carbonation; near medium body. O: a very drinkable IPA with a substantial sweet malt balance making this drink more like a pale ale. In fact, I’ve had pale ales that were more hoppy.

Pours a light amber color with a lacy white head. Notes of burnt bread, orange citrus, some grass, and brown sugar.

Pours a clear amber-orange. Has a really sweet aroma of apples and other fruity hops. A stronger fruity flavor than expected, but also with some caramel, malts, and some hops.

Draft at the Irish Pol. Crystal clear dark orange amber. Soapy white head. Light splashes of lace. Not much aroma (when cold). Medium body. Semi-creamy mouthfeel. Simcoe hops are most forward. Earthy leafy citrus. Oranges spiked with cloves. Forest floor. Thistles. Baby pinecones. Truffles. Dried tangerine peels. Gently sweet. Faint toffee. Black peppercorns. Smooth spicy finish. Very nicely constructed hop brew.

Quite interesting. BItter yes, but also creamy and somewhat sweet, probably due the fact it was high in alcohol abv.

Cask at GBBF. Dark amber orange, slight haze, still, small bubbly white head. Aroma is apple, toffee, resin, sherry. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is Starburst sweets, light mango and cheese powder, citrus. Not bad.

Cask at GBBF 2015. It pours clear golden-amber with a small white head. The nose is soft, juicy, oily, pine, peach, apricot, fruit and mild toffee. The taste is smooth, bitter-sweet, oily, resin, brown bread, apricot, cracked peppercorn and a touch of alcohol with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Works pretty well on cask. Smooth, juicy and easy-going.

Very nice off copper pour w/ a big white head & good lacing. The aroma is a little piney but I think the hops are somewhat drowned by the malt presence. The taste has an underlying bitterness w/ a nice citrus hop sweetness. It is quite soft on the palate which is fairly unusual for the style. A very solid offering!

Pours a finger of head on a clear straw body. The aroma is nice, grainy. The taste is a solid malt caramel flavor with balanced lemon and grapefruit bitterness. The texture is medium. A great IPA showcasing malt and hop balance.
