COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Style: American IPA
Hops: Warrior, Simcoe, Palisade, Centennial, Cascade, Citra
Malts: 2-Row, Caramalt, Munich

Our flagship beer, Loose Cannon wins people over at first smell. The carefully cultivated interplay of Simcoe, Palisade, and Centennial creates a most fragrant IPAóits nose bursts with notes of grapefruit, herbs, and pine. Bitterness is somewhat subdued by the floral quality that pervades the taste. The color is burnished gold, and the mouthfeel is creamy. A strong malt backbone balances out the triple-hopped beer. Its nickname, Hop3, comes from the brewing process: our brewers hop Loose Cannon in the boil, the hopback, and the fermenter. It won a second place CAMRA award at the 2010 Great British Beer Festival.

Despite the advertising of the massive amount of hops in the thing, and the reviews that talk about it, I actually find this beer to be well balanced with a significant malt taste to it. Maybe itís because it seems to contain some hops and malts that arenít in a lot of IPAs, and is missing other standard ones. This really seems like something thatís in a bit of a different category from some of the other IPAs I drink to some degree, though tís not that it doesnít fit the style, itís just a different way of approaching it. A lot of times I drink a hoppy IPA and then may want a second beer thatís a different style, whereas this I could see as a go-to beer. Very refreshing, and the malt presence isnít too heavy at all, nor do you feel like youíre missing out on hops, they are just a bit less harsh, but still spicy. Real flavorful while still being very drinkable without much dryness (In other words, itís not made more drinkable by being watered down, it has every bit of flavor as other IPAs if not more, itís just a more drinkable flavor). I remember a friend taking me out for a meal in Baltimore years ago and this was on special and I had several with some crab cakes, great combo. By the way, did I mention this is a Baltimore beer? Thatís a plus for me as a Baltimore kind of guy. Regular price is a bit expensive for me, but itís on sale or in a mix pack thatís on sale, or at a gathering or whatever, often enough that itís not unavailable, and as other beers go up in price, this seems more and more in the general ball park of the cheap craft beers (Often regularly priced $9.99/6). Would be interested in a $15-$16 twelve pack (Save a few bucks) if they could pull it off, but havenít seen that format.

This is delicious. The hops aren't overbearing and it isn't too thick. Goes down smooth with a crisp hop flavor. Not the fruitiest of IPAs, but there is a lot going on here. Deceptively strong. Certainly a go-to IPA for me.

Pours a hazy orange with a sudsy head. Strong fruity aromas in the nose. Lots of light fruit in the flavors with hints of grapefruit and peaches. Definitely a solid offering and one I would try again.

Clear orange gold with a one-finger head and moderate lace. Muted aroma of pine, citrus and peach. Citrus hop flavors up front, with gentle bitterness, supported by a strong toast/caramel malt base. Medium body and carbonation, sticky mouthfeel and a clean finish.

Had this from a bottle last night, very floral/fruity, very well balanced and smooth, some bitterness but not a lot. Never heard of this one before and was very pleasantly surprised. I would buy this one again, even non IPA drinkers should like this one.

Holy sweet tropical fruits. This beers is just oozing with massive amounts of tropical fruit. Itís so fresh smelling. Itís like biting into a fresh peach, itís awesome. So much flavor here, and it just gets better every sip. This one totally surprised me. I liked the label so I was like why not. So good, this one you need to be drinking now.

Draught. Slight hops aroma, light amber color, small off-white foamy head, slightly sweet hoppy taste, low carbonation, long finish with moldy aftertaste. The aftertaste ruins the beer a bit.
