COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Style: American IPA
Hops: Warrior, Simcoe, Palisade, Centennial, Cascade, Citra
Malts: 2-Row, Caramalt, Munich

Our flagship beer, Loose Cannon wins people over at first smell. The carefully cultivated interplay of Simcoe, Palisade, and Centennial creates a most fragrant IPA—its nose bursts with notes of grapefruit, herbs, and pine. Bitterness is somewhat subdued by the floral quality that pervades the taste. The color is burnished gold, and the mouthfeel is creamy. A strong malt backbone balances out the triple-hopped beer. Its nickname, Hop3, comes from the brewing process: our brewers hop Loose Cannon in the boil, the hopback, and the fermenter. It won a second place CAMRA award at the 2010 Great British Beer Festival.

Pours briliantly clear with a smalish off white head, aromas of hops and some bready malt, also noteworthy to say there is an off aroma of DMS (like a cooked can corn smell) usually results from a hot fermentation, not a good thing but its in there. Flavor is solid with english malt, slightly sweet lke a dogfish 90 minute but not as alcoholic. Hop presents in more of the flavor and aroma than the bitterness, this is not a bitter beer by any means, but it has a nice hop profile though. I was plesantly suprised at this beer over all.

Nice aroma, but bitter taste. Perhaps it is the citrus peel, it is a bit much. Would go well with thick steak smothered in mushrooms.

On tap at Sharkys. Pours hazy deep golden. Nice herbal hop aroma and well carbonated. Taste is grapefruit, some pine, and bitter finish. Pretty good IPA.

Good, but not great of a common IPA. I'd get it again if Dogfish Head or other better IPAs are available. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Gravity at GBBF 2014. Poured a deep golden colour, with a rocky white head. Aroma of tinned fruit, grapefruits and honey. Syrupy flavours, with citrus hop bitterness and dry grain. Finish was chewy malt, grassy hop and cereal.

Pours clear to cloudy copper with low white head. Aroma of citrus and grapefruit, mango, ripe peach, resin, and some funky fruit, can't decide between seabuckthorn and gooseberry. Taste is fruit sweet and balanced bitter with lingering bitter finish, somewhat reduced by too much carbonation. Light, smooth body otherwise.

What a great IPA! Pours a light color for an IPA. Grapefruit nose and a smooth crisp finish. A great IPA.

Cask gravity at the 2014 GBBF. Bright orange coloured pour with a fleeting loose white head. Aroma is resin orange, berry. Flavour is orange resin light caramel malts, light pine. Palate is semi sweet, medium sticky hop. Solid IPA.

Transfer from BA review on 9-2-12- Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – Pours a clear golden color with a big billowy white head. The head fades over a moderate amount of time to give a fair level of lacing. Smell – The aroma is a mix of sweet and hoppy. The sweet is largely of a caramel smell with a light bready aroma mixed within. The hop smell is almost entirely of a grapefruit and lemon citrus, although some light notes of a grassy smell are present as well. Taste – The taste begins with the sweet caramel and bread, as was detected in the nose. The hops start coming in quickly with a good dose of grapefruit hop tastes which bitter the flavor some. Soon some pine and herbal hops then enter the taste profile. These mingle rather well with the citrus and sweet malt flavors and in the end, level a nice hop flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly creamier side with the carbonation level being rather average. The creaminess is good for the hop flavors, while the carbonation level makes it more refreshing. Overall – Even at 7.25 % abv it is very easy to drink with rather smooth flavor transitions. A easy drinking stronger IPA.

Although not a fan of IPA, this beer is not as lemon peel tasting as a lot of the IPAs that I have tasted. It was quite refreshing on a hot day

Bottle to shaker glass. Pours hazy amber, decent head, nice lacing. Aroma of pine and citrus. Taste is balanced between citrusy bitter and sweet backbone. Medium body, light carbonation with a resin mouth feel. Finishes bitter with notes of grapefruit, spruce and esters. Alcohol noticeable. Not bad.
