COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Style: American IPA
Hops: Warrior, Simcoe, Palisade, Centennial, Cascade, Citra
Malts: 2-Row, Caramalt, Munich

Our flagship beer, Loose Cannon wins people over at first smell. The carefully cultivated interplay of Simcoe, Palisade, and Centennial creates a most fragrant IPA—its nose bursts with notes of grapefruit, herbs, and pine. Bitterness is somewhat subdued by the floral quality that pervades the taste. The color is burnished gold, and the mouthfeel is creamy. A strong malt backbone balances out the triple-hopped beer. Its nickname, Hop3, comes from the brewing process: our brewers hop Loose Cannon in the boil, the hopback, and the fermenter. It won a second place CAMRA award at the 2010 Great British Beer Festival.

Very nice. Had one just after enjoying a Victory Hop Devil. Hop Devil much meatier, but this was just as tasty. Fairly aromatic, with great color. Mouthfeel excellent.

Pours a very slightly cloudy, classic golden color with a healthy off white bumpy, rich head. Circus peanut nose. Flavor doesn’t change a lot from the nose. Perhaps a little more citrusy. Pretty unremarkable.

I had on cask at Lizardville in Akron. Also with lemon zest, peppercorns, citra hops, and cherrywood. Great aroma of lemon and wood notes with light citrus aroma. Taste was wood, lemon zest, pepper and very light hops. Poured a moderate orange with a very active cask head. Creamy mouth and moderate carb. Very well balanced and flavorfull.

Bottle. Very forward grapefruit nose, medium carbonation. Full hoppy, slightly sweet mouth feel. Smooth overall, with slightly bitter finish. About as good as a bottle IPA can get.

Good hops aroma off the top. Pours golden with good lacing. Medium bitter finish. Lots of citrus and it’s well integrated. Some grassy notes. Tap at Rosslyn brewpub.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2015 Bottle pour celebrating graduation in MD. Nice cloudy amber with fluffy white head which lasted well. Floral aroma with strong hints of citrus. Initial taste of grapefruit with aftertaste of pine and tar. Not overly bitter for an IPA. Good find by friends at local establishment.

Draft: just what you’d expect. Lots of bitter tropical fruity hop notes. It’s a big IPA that will make any hop lover happy, but won’t blow your mind.

UPDATED: MAY 5, 2015 On tap. 12 oz pour into a shaker pint. Appropriate temperature. Nice fluffy foamy white head. Good retention and lots of lacing. Clear, great carbonation, and golden. Nose is fruity with a little pine. Citrus. Centennial comes through well. Medium body and creamy. Perfect for a big IPA. Taste is awesome. Strong grapefruit, candied citrus, some pine, a little malt. Beautifully balance. This beer (or several) would be great on its own or with dinner.

On tap at Mellow Mushroom in Acworth, GA. Aroma is sweet pine, citrus, grapefruit, tropical fruits. Taste is citrus marmalade, mild hops, mango, pineapple. A strange combination of rich and refreshing on par with a tangy tropical marmalade.
