Our flagship beer, Loose Cannon wins people over at first smell. The carefully cultivated interplay of Simcoe, Palisade, and Centennial creates a most fragrant IPA—its nose bursts with notes of grapefruit, herbs, and pine. Bitterness is somewhat subdued by the floral quality that pervades the taste. The color is burnished gold, and the mouthfeel is creamy. A strong malt backbone balances out the triple-hopped beer. Its nickname, Hop3, comes from the brewing process: our brewers hop Loose Cannon in the boil, the hopback, and the fermenter. It won a second place CAMRA award at the 2010 Great British Beer Festival.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. The label has very short description, freshness date and a 7.25% abv. Appearance: It has beautiful light to medium amber hues with a tall and sticky off white head on top. The body also has a light haze and some nice visible carbonation flowing up to the head. As I drink the slow settling leaves lots of sticky lace patterns on the glass. Smell: Right from the pop of the cap I get citrusy hop notes right up in my nose. Getting it into the glass it opens up with big citrusy grapefruit, sweet orange, peach and floral notes over light bready and pale biscuity maltiness. Taste/Palate: Right up front there are nice sweet citrusy notes. Grapefruit and sweet orange marmalade notes flow across the tongue and over a mild bready malt base. This all thins out towards the finish and there is a very mild citrusy/floral hop bitterness in the end. The overall mouth feel is a light medium with a well balanced carbonation. Notes: To start, this is one heck of a beautiful IPA. Its aroma is very pleasing as well as the juicy hops up front. It finishes a bit on the light side but overall I feel it’s still a very solid beer.

Pours a dark orangish amber with a full head of off white foam. Lightly syrupy body. Light hops with some sweet malts. Not harsh or bitter but not so refreshing. OK but nothing special.

Clear iced tea color with minimal head. Biscuity malts, sweet blends nicely into pineapple, grapefruit, herbs, a little pine and a nice dry finish. Really good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours medium orange with a one finger white head with nice lacing. Aroma of citrus, pine, herbal hops, grassy hops, light bready malts, floral hops, and light sweet malts. Taste is pretty similar to the aroma. Has a medium body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a semi dry, moderately bitter, medium-long finish. Overall, a pretty tasty, well balanced IPA.

On tap at the hotel bar with dinner, pre-gaming before the BNA Party last week. Mostly clear light golden color with a decent bubbly white head. Earthy citrus and pine hop aroma and flavor with a solid bready light caramel maltiness to counter. Decent but old school feeling ipa.

Bought at Kroger@SwiftCreek Midlothian,Va 4/15/16 Best by date:7/16/16 Another Maryland beer - Pine,Oranges,Grapefruit and mangoes? GREAT AROMA! Deep golden and tangerine color - not much bitterness! (website says only 45 IBU’S!) Good malt to hops balance. Extremely tasty and easy to drink but watch out it being 7.25% WOW! This beer is readily available in my area and will be a staple in my fridge from now on! Great job Heavy Seas!

Real nice fresh hop aroma with some malt in there to balance. While flavor is good, there’s a slight clash between the different components and that’s even more evident in the finish.
