3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: AUG 9, 2009 Pours a clear amber with thick white head that sticks to the glass. Very floral type hops, very little citrus, lots of pine, and a little resin. Taste is very similar, but comes together horribly. Slick mouthfeel with long lasting floral hops taste after. Not impressed with this.
Rerate: I don’t remember who sent this to me as an extra, but I remember being a little irked because I had already rated it, have it readily available, and didn’t really like it the first time around. Well, now I am very glad they sent it, because I must have had a bad bottle before. This is not the best IPA I have had, but definitely very solid. Pours a slightly hazy clear orange with thick white head, lots of lacing. Aroma mostly of citrus hops, slight floral, slight grass, pine, and bit of spice. Flavor matches well and DOES come together nicely. Very solid. Thanks to whoever sent this as a bonus to me, because I would have likely never tried this again!

Extremely satisfying IPA, floral citrusy hop aroma, was this dry-hopped? Beautiful deep golden color with a creamy head, yet there is a good balance of malt to round it out. Excellent example of the style.

Draft at mellow mushroom (fl). Woody citrus aroma. Looks like every other beer. Not overly bitter- citrus overtones. Straight up good. Reordered!

Really nice beer. Aroma is mostly citrus and pine with biscuity malts taking the backseat. Flavor. Wow. Bitter but drinkable. Nice citrus and pine with a great malt profile. Balanced nicely.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Appearance- clear honey gold. Decent medium bone white head that lasted a good bit. A little lacing, not much. Very pleasing/inviting to the eye.
Smell- clean, piney, floral, hoppy, citrus (grapefruit).
Taste- bitter hops up front. Malty, biscuity on the end. Big citrus wallop (grapefruit on the nose carries to the taste, big time).
Mouthfeel- medium body. Well balanced. A good bit going on here but very consistent throughout.
Overall- excellent! An outstanding IPA. Was a gateway beer for me several years ago when first getting used to this style, and has remained a "Big 4" for me over time (the other 3? Lagunitas Lil Sumpin’, Bells Two Hearted, 21st Ammendment Brew Free or Die). Also, very reasonably priced ($7.99 at Total Wine). An additional note, visit the brewery if you have the opportunity. A great tour and tasting room.

I found this to be a bit bubbly and light. Some citrus and floral aroma that did not really show up in the taste. Several people recommended this as very distinctive but I just didn't get it in the 4 bottles I had. Perfectly fine, if bubbly ipa but not great.

From a bottle. Copper-amber hue with a thinner white head. Full of pine an citrus aroma. Mouthfeel is lively, but much thicker for an IPA. Malt presence is shown more in feel than smell and taste. Pretty bitter.

Nice aroma, but bitter taste. Perhaps it is the citrus peel, it is a bit much. Would go well with thick steak smothered in mushrooms.
