This malty lager is our most award-winning beer: it took gold, silver, and bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival from 2006 to 2010. Cutlass Amber has a toasted, biscuity character. The slight sweetness comes from Crystal malt. Vienna malt contributes a remarkable smoothness and Munich malt gives an amber color and delicate aroma. Tettnang hops infuse the beer with a slight earthiness. Formerly named Heavy Seas Märzen, Cutlass Amber is our second best-selling beer. In 2012, Cutlass Amber won a silver medal at the World Beer Cup in the Vienna Lager category.

5/1/15. Happy International Tuba Day! Clear red pour with a small khaki head, almost no lacing. Sickeningly sweet aroma, cloying, caramel, biscuit. Very sweet flavor, caramel, toffee, biscuit, bread... really not my thing.

This beer somehow got a silver medal. Not sure about that. Very yeasty and sweet for a lager. Smells like fruit. Pours yellowish orange in color with a thin white head. Sink pour for me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours clear amber, a little towards the dark end, with a thick - if not persistent - eggshell head. Crisp, malty aroma has a fruity hint. Flavor is crisp, malty with hints of pear and apple, typical but pleasing. Mouthfeel is about average in both fizz and viscosity departments. Could be a good gateway beer to wean people off macro-brewed swill.

Mild toasted caramel aroma. Light amber body. Sweet caramel taste with a mild roasted malt background. Feels fuller bodied than it looks. Sweet and wet to the finish.

Old rating. Pretty nondescript marzen type beer (which is not my favorite style anyway). Amber color. Toast, sweet, caramel malts. A little hop bittering. Completely forgettable.

12oz bottle from somewhere... Copper pour with a thin white head and loose sheets of lacing. Aroma of toasted, bready, toffee. Tastes of sweet toffee, grass, floral, herbal. Background juicy vibe. Ok.

Thin white head of fine bubbles. Soft bready malts with some vanilla, biscuits, light grains and malts. Color is a dark copper. Flavor is typical marzen. Soft and malty with a bit of sickly sweetness late swallow. Bit dry and chalky. Lingering malts and cereal grains. Not my cup of tea.
