This malty lager is our most award-winning beer: it took gold, silver, and bronze medals at the Great American Beer Festival from 2006 to 2010. Cutlass Amber has a toasted, biscuity character. The slight sweetness comes from Crystal malt. Vienna malt contributes a remarkable smoothness and Munich malt gives an amber color and delicate aroma. Tettnang hops infuse the beer with a slight earthiness. Formerly named Heavy Seas Märzen, Cutlass Amber is our second best-selling beer. In 2012, Cutlass Amber won a silver medal at the World Beer Cup in the Vienna Lager category.

Pours a clear dark orange color with ok head. Flavor is biscuit grain and caramel and works pretty well. Grassy hay wild aroma. Touch of sweetness on the finish. Perfect for fall.

Old rating. Pretty nondescript marzen type beer (which is not my favorite style anyway). Amber color. Toast, sweet, caramel malts. A little hop bittering. Completely forgettable.

12oz bottle from somewhere... Copper pour with a thin white head and loose sheets of lacing. Aroma of toasted, bready, toffee. Tastes of sweet toffee, grass, floral, herbal. Background juicy vibe. Ok.

Thin white head of fine bubbles. Soft bready malts with some vanilla, biscuits, light grains and malts. Color is a dark copper. Flavor is typical marzen. Soft and malty with a bit of sickly sweetness late swallow. Bit dry and chalky. Lingering malts and cereal grains. Not my cup of tea.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Pours clear, Golden, with a medium white head and some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of malts and yeast, some caramel notes and very slight hop notes. Taste is sweet, some grain and some malts; slightly bitter. Very easy to drink, overall not bad at all.

Aroma: Toasted malts with hints of skunks yeast aromas. Appearance: Clear amber with rich tan head. Taste: Medium sweetness straight through. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, long sweet finish. Overall: A bit too sweet for my taste. Not bad, though.

Pailhead (5330) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - AUG 31, 2014
Bottle: The aroma consists of light-moderate fruit, light caramel, brown sugar, toasty notes, and a hint of apple. It pours a transparent amber with a one finger off-white head that quickly fades to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. The flavor starts with light-moderate toasty caramel with a touch of brown sugar and fruit. The finish has light apple with a touch of roast and earthy bitterness. It’s medium bodied with a somewhat sticky mouthfeel. Overall, this one is a little too sweet for me.
