UPDATED: APR 26, 2012 2011 bottles served at cellar temp. Sent as an extra from ygtbsm94. Awesome. A - Dark brown with a reddish hue. Thick off-white head turns to some nice lacing. The lacing retention is fantastic. S - Sweet malts, slight oak, slight vanilla. T - Much like the aroma. Sweet malts, dark fruits, then hints of vanilla and sweet oak push through. Very smooth throughout. There is a little bit of a drag in the flavor before the barrel picks up. The vanilla/caramel/oak almost shows a candy-like flavor from middle to end. The finish gives the slightest amount of heat and dryness, but is fairly smooth. P - Medium, feels a little thicker and has some carbonation. Pretty nice. O - Good flavors, not too hot, smooth finish.

This is an excellent and maybe underrated BA barleywine. The barrel doesn’t add too much or too little, just right.

2010 version from Market Street Wine. Pours cloudy brown with almost no head. Aroma of caramel, molasses, sweet malt and hops. Medium to full bodied with a smooth palate that blends the sweet malt with bourbon. Tasty, the bourbon taste has probably mellowed since it’s the 2010.

Draft. Clear dark amber color. Aroma of whiskey and vanilla. Taste is similar. The whiskey overwhelms the beer.

Pours a rich reddish-brown with a beautiful head. Alcoholic and slightly cloying nose. Rich malt flavor, a bit sweet, with a notable whiskey finish. Wish I would have bought more to let a few age... I think this would only get better.

Deep ruby with no head. Malt sweetness with pomegranate and stone fruit apparent. Taste is malt, grassy hops, and a tart citrus. Very slightly oaky. Nice.

on draft poured a bit lighter than its sister beer the cabernet. the light aroma of bourbon over the sweetness of the malts. almost had a sweet candy flavor mixed with the bourbon. quite different for a barley wine and wonder if aging does anything for this. leaves you wanting more.

22 ounce bomber that pours a mahogany red color with very little tan head. Aromas of caramel malt, oak, vanilla, brown sugar, figs and dates. Flavor is much the same with a touch of bourbon initially. As the beer warmed, the bourbon flavor mellowed out with more of a vanilla finish. Real nice ber that I wish I had more of.

Pours mahogany into a tulip. Head quickly recedes leaving no lacing. Honey, oak and treacle aromas. Thick and chewy with sweet syrup, honey and vanilla, maple syrup finish.

Bottle. Pours mostly clear brown with an amber tint and a thin, frothy off-white head; decent retention and spare lacing. Aroma is sweet, cookie and caramel malt, vanilla, oak, and faint dark fruit. Flavor is sweet malt forward, booze, oak, vanilla and dark chocolate; lightly sweet, bourbon finish. Full body, medium carbonation, and high warmth.
