on draft poured a bit lighter than its sister beer the cabernet. the light aroma of bourbon over the sweetness of the malts. almost had a sweet candy flavor mixed with the bourbon. quite different for a barley wine and wonder if aging does anything for this. leaves you wanting more.

22 ounce bomber that pours a mahogany red color with very little tan head. Aromas of caramel malt, oak, vanilla, brown sugar, figs and dates. Flavor is much the same with a touch of bourbon initially. As the beer warmed, the bourbon flavor mellowed out with more of a vanilla finish. Real nice ber that I wish I had more of.

The main aroma is alcohol. The taste is malty with some oxidised flavours. There is definite bourbon flavour at the end that I like.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draught at Churchkey. Hazy dark brown pour. Big vanilla and molasses sweetness to this beer, along with touches of wood, port, and booze. Just too sweet for my liking; barleywines need to be refined, and this one isn’t.
