Sample at the Studio 35 Barrel Aged Beer / Slap Shot screening on 02/10/2013. Pours brown with a medium thin light beige head that evaporates quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing. The aroma consists of red wine, oak and vanilla. Full-bodied with flavors of dark fruit, oak, vanilla and burnt malt. The finish is oaky vanilla and dried fruits. Good all around.

Finishing my last bottle of my HS barrel aged beers. Bomber into snifter glass, clear rich dark amber color with thin light tan head. Pretty sweet aroma, detect caramel malt, dark fruits (prunes, raisins, berries), wine and oak notes. Taste follows the aroma, sweet and fruity, adding notes of chocolate and toffee, with some booze showing up on the finish. Rich body, mild carbonation, sticky, smooth and slick. Great improvement on their barley wine.

Poured from a 22 ounce bottle. Pours a darker brown with a beige head of foam. Aroma has nice raisin and prune dark fruits with the Cabernet coming through very well. Quite a nice smelling beer. Taste translates well to a wine soaked wood and dark fruit sweetness. Overall a pretty good beer. Blew my expectations out of the water.

Boozy walnut nose, similar to rum balls my Dad used to make. Cola brown, thin yellow head. Date flavor, lesser walnut and cherry notes. Yeah, it’s fruitcake in a glass. Tart and way too hot.

Bomber from Capone’s. Pours turbid chocolate fudge color with minimal off-white head (very minimal). Nose is yeasty oaky malt, figgy fruit, cognac, red wine grapes. Tastes rich, very oahy and bourbony, with notes of maple, mild figgy and pruney fruit, earthiness, cognac, and an overall flavor that comes across more like a fine cognac than a beer, albeit with more oak, woody, and malty notes. This one is very good, and demolishes the beer/spirit boundary.

Bomber to snifter. Looks good; a semi-transparent caramel with thin off-white lacing. Smells solid; sweet and oaky with cabernet notes. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Solid beer.
