22oz bottle, 2010 vintage. Hazy red / brown color. Good khaki head, kinda bubbly. Good dark fruit and red grape flavor. Great earthy hop. Good lace. Great texture and mouthfeel. Bigger body, good smooth and creamy texture, light carbonation. Good grape, earthy hop and light malty aftertaste. Hint of chocolate in there, some light dark fruit. Taste is bitter, light sweet. Alcohol is very well blended. Very tasty stuff, and yet very drinkable, too. Age must have worked very well for this. Lots of particles visible in the 2nd pour. Great stuff. This is one I was glad to have all to myself.

Comes out of the tap an opaque chocolate-brown with a fairly thick light tan head. Malty aroma has subtle notes of chocolate and cinnamon. Flavor has a strong, fruity alcohol bite that still lets through malty, chocolate and toffee notes. It is somewhat sweet, but not overly so. Texture is quite thick, almost syrupy, with subtle but persistent fizz. Drink with care, lest you end up "below decks"! ;)

22 ounce bottle, 2011 vintage. Served in a snifter, the beer pours a murky reddish/brown color with about an inch tan head. Head retention is good, and there’s a small amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like red wine, dark fruit, molasses, caramel, brown sugar and some wood. It tastes like red wine/grapes, dark fruit (figs, raisins, plums), molasses, caramel, toffee, and a little bit of chocolate. I thought it tasted better and better the longer I drank it. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s syrupy and slick with moderate carbonation. I think this is a good overall brew, and it’s better than the regular Below Decks (I just had a bottle of it before I drank this one). The cabernet barrel aging works well with this brew and makes it better. Definitely worth a try if you come across it.

Damico (2353) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 3, 2012
Pours dark chestnut amber with a decent beige cocoa head. The aroma brings sweet potent raisins, not too stick or resiny but smooth and pleasant. The body is quite thick, syrupy, but the booze is low helping the palate quite a bit. The flavor of sweet strong malts with some light booze on the backend, which is where the cabernet barrel shows up just faintly with some berry winey notes.

27-AUG-2012, bottle @Papsø. Unclear, amber, low tan head. Hoppy, malty, fruity aroma. Taste is malty, liqour-like, hoppy with orange peel. Touch of tartness in all the sweetness makes it even more wine-like. Very complex. Perhaps a bit tired but still a very nice drink.
