I love it. I could drink it all night. Better than schneider avenintus. High alch. and a great full flavor.

Aroma is quite strong - it almost bowled me over when I opened the bottle - very wheaty, with an odd rubbery hint. Pours a dark amber brown, much darker than other wheat beers I have sampled. Flavor is rich and mouth-filling, like a typical wheat beer but with a strong alcohol bite, as well as some hoppy undertone and again that weird rubbery hint - I trust they didn’t mix old tires with the hops. ;-) But seriously. Other than that, the flavor is excellent. Hang Ten is smooth yet edgy, good for sipping and savoring.

I think this was the last one they had at Pat’s. This is awesome. Poured into a tulip, This was a hazy brown, not light brown, not dark brown, just brown. Smells like a mix between a Weizen and a Doppelbock (I dig the creativity of mixing styles here). The alcohol was not apparent to me, but I had this one about 5 beers in.

A truly delicious brew in the weizen bock style. Fairly light going down for the octane, and it packs a mighty punch.

This four pack of Hang Ten arrived just this week in Georgia, and had notched in best by date of March 2008 on the base of the label. The beer looked like amber sweet tea in the Paulaner flute glass, except for the one finger head fed by some lively streamers. This was quite an aromatic weizenbock that showcased bananas, apples, cherries, and cloves with each smell. The sip revealed this to be one of the most flavorful Heavy Seas beers I have ever samples. The sweet and sour juicy fruit gum flavor was kicking in nicely, until arrested suddenly by a spicy phenolic bite and a hoppy finish. Not at all wimpy and out of style like few of the attempted big beers from this brewery end up as. The flavors were a tad disjointed at this point, but I would say that was more due to the young release. Body was medium thick and quite pleasantly dry. This beer definitely caught the big wave all the way. Highly recommended to any and all wheat lovers. Should be even better with a few months of age on it.

UPDATED: AUG 31, 2010 Rerated for the 2010 version - the 2007 had only gotten a 3.7 rating. Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a murky dark brown color with a small beige head that produced some lacing. The aroma was tangy and fruity with note of cherries, berries, vanilla, rum and molasses. The flavor was tangy, tart and malty with moderate notes of vanilla, molasses, cherries, elderberries, wood and faint cocoa. The finish was long and malty with vanilla and fruit lingering. Thick and creamy body. The alcohol was well hidden. Excellent.

12oz. Wow, quite an amazing beer. Vanilla is heavy in this one, with a very sweet taste. It is light, smooth, and quite creamy. I was actually shocked that it was 10% because, while I did notice a bit of an alcohol flavor, it only felt at most like an 8% or so. Surely a beer to recommend to people.

Bottle someone left in my fridge after a Halloween party. Pours to a dark amber with very little, quickly dissipating head. Huge aroma - malty, dark and very strong. The taste is outstanding. Very complex, there is a lot of malt, caramel and it’s very sweet. The alcohol hits you as it finishes and warms on it’s way down. I would recommend this to any beer lover. The only thing it needs is a new label - it’s like drink the comic section of the paper.

Bottle from Capone’s. Hazy deep brown pour with 1-finger khaki head. Aroma is big banana, figs, caramel malt, hops, some clove, ginger, and sesame oil. The taste is heavily malty and brown sugary at first, giving way to a pronounced banana, fig, hop, and clovey mid-palate, with more gingery sesame oil hints as it warms. The palate is rich, complex, fruity, and just wonderful. I never would have guessed that this was 10%. This one, as with all the Heavy Seas styles, is outstanding, and it breaks down the door on what a weizenbock can be.
