A pretty, dark ruby beer with plenty of sticky foam. Plenty of spicy yeast and candy sugars on the nose. The alcohol is a little more apparent than it might be in Belgium, on the first sip at least, and a tiny but in the finish too. Otherwise it is spot on with a mellow, layered sweetness. It is satisfyingly thick with an excellent tickle of carbonation. Really an excellent beer to drink though, excellent.

Dark brown. Tastes like roasted cashews/figs/plum. I don’t think I’ve had a beer quite like this. No head (possibly due to this being a recap). Thanks Seymour.

22 oz. bottle left at my place by Strykzone and opened the next time around - thanks, Dave! Pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma of fig, date, plum, brown sugar, candi sugar, caramel malts- pretty nice and fruity smelling. Flavor is so, so fruity, with the same fruits as the nose, berries, sweet and caramel malts, toasted sugar, and earthy notes. Medium-bodied, with medium-high carbonation and a juicy, sweet mouthfeel. I liked it but couldn’t drink a whole one.

Tasted from tall bottle at 2nd STL Ratebeer Gathering, thanks Strykzone. Poured a mostly clear, deep reddish copper color, white foam and a little lace. Aromas of caramel, toast, biscuit, flowery hops, some fruity esters, but none of the typical complexity of Belgian yeast. Nice tart amber ale flavor, bittersweet balance of strong malt and hops, very caramelly. Almost syrupy sweet, not the light "digestive" feel of a real Belgian Dubbel, but it did have extreme carbonation which splashed it all around. Pretty tasty but not as good as true-to-style examples.
