3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 argo0 (9265) - Washington DC, USA - MAY 18, 2010
22oz bottle. Medium beige head atop clear dark brown body, nice lacing. Aroma is medium sweet, pine, rye, some bittersweet chocolate, light caramel. Taste is moderately sweet, pine, some bittersweet chocolate, rye. Smooth medium body, some acidity, fairly drinkable. Put it among some black IPAs and it’d fit right in. But whatever style it is, it’s pretty tasty -- hats off to the homebrewer who developed the recipe.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 bhensonb (7598) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 26, 2010
Bomber from Bruisin Ales. Pours really dark brown with a foamy, clingy 4 finger beige/tan head. Aromas of dark malt and some hop. Medium plus body with lots of foamy carbonation. Flavor is very hoppy. The rye harshness, sorry other rye lovers, is present, there’s a strong hint of coffee/chocolate, and there’s a lot of hop bitter. Love rye. Love hops. Love this.

Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy dark toasted bittersweet flavor with medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid complex beer.

A red copper ale with a thick moka head. In aroma, a nice fruity hops with treacle and caramel. In mouth, a smooth DIPA with oily biscuitty malt, orange pulp, pinhey c-hops, all very nice and classy. On tap at Brewvival, Feb. 26 2011.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 JoeMcPhee (6967) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 11, 2010
Deep ruddy brown pour with a sticky white head. The nose is very spicy with loads of rye malt apparent over a soft but deep cocoaish base. There is a touch of American hop pinyness over the malt. Really bright on the nose with excellent balance between the spicy rye and spicy/piny hops. The palate seems a bit thinner than I would have expected from a rye beer. Peppery with notes of coffee and light roasted barley. Fairly thin-bodied but it’s tasty enough. Very hoppy actually - almost to IPA territory. Whatever it is - it’s good.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 CaptainCougar (6857) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - MAY 16, 2010
Bottle: Pours a nearly opaque dark mahogany with small froth of light tan head. Has a sweet dark caramel and chocolate malty nose with some notes of spicy rye and fresh piny hops. Starts with good sweetness and toasty dark caramel malty flavor well-balanced with an assertive hoppiness before a smooth chocolatey bittersweet finish. An enjoyable and well-made imperial porter.
2.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 BMan1113VR (6531) - Los Angeles, California, USA - DEC 26, 2010
2010 Bottle thanks to captain cougar. Pours with a near black body with a large and fluffy off-white head. Aromas of rye, citrus hops (orange mainly), cereal, alcohol, brown sugar and light roast. Very floral and pretty estery as well. Flavors of rye, bitter and astringent roast. Husky, acrid, roasty, chalky, messy! Very confusing after such a nice aroma. Creamy carbonation. Something is seriously wrong with the acidic nature and acrid taste of the grain bill.
