Thin whispy tan head thats short lived. An almost blac body cept for a little ruby hue shining through. Nose is chocolate, light roast, berries. Body is almost medium, thin on the palate with a lazy carbonation. Flavors of chocolate, light roast, cocoa, caramel and faint coffee. Finish is almost dry, lightly roasty. Bottle procured @statelineliquors.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 BeerandBlues2 (7421) - Hanover, Maryland, USA - FEB 13, 2011
Bottle. Pours opaque with an average, frothy tan head, medium retention with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (chocolate, bread, cookie), light hops (floral), and light esters (fruity). Flavor is heavy malt (chocolate, bread, cookie), light hops (floral), and light esters (fruity). Full body, medium warmth and carbonation, low creaminess with a dry and spicy finish. This beer is rather boring, with a heavy chocolate syrup nose and sweetness, but with a spicy finish.

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours dark brownish black w 1f ow head. Nose is a bit odd, dark malt, heavy hops, dark choc, some funk and tart blackberry. Tastes dark malty, with choc, hops, blackberry, and port notes. Gets hoy late, not terribly complex, and acquires a somewhat odd finishing flavor. Meh.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 TheBeerOrg (2136) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - APR 4, 2010
Pours black with a thin foamy tan head. Notes of foamy roast, coffee, wine, smokey phenols and vanilla. Full to heavy bodied, lightly oily with smooth carbonation. A bit thin, with some strange vegetable/fruit aromas. I guess it could be worse.

nose is pure chocolate chip cookie dough, with just a touch of lacto sourness. Flavor is quite sweet, lots of cookie dough again, lactic yogurt, light coffee w/ cream. Finishes chalky.

22 oz. bottle from Mac’s on West Peachtree. They always seem to get the Heavy Seas stuff before anyone else. Khaki colored head is rather fluffy, at least, for a few minutes. It seems to be fading away. Opaque black body. Looks decent, but I am thinking this beer is a wee bit specious. Heavy roast aroma, with subtle touches of coffee. Ash tray aroma is coming through as well. Damn, that roast flavor is insane, almost to the point where I am finding it bad. A one-dimensional aroma i.e. the roast is just overshadowing everything. The beer is pungent, but it isn’t very interesting. Coffee is a slightly noticed in the flavor. Coffee grounds, and roast are dominating the flavor. An almost milky texture. At first, I was disappointed with the Mutiny Fleet series, and then towards the Autumn/Winter I was beginning to feel slightly pleased and impressed, but now I am convinced they are starting to pull the wool over my eyes, so I don’t see how mediocre their "special" beers really are. Lots of roast, with a decent ABV = me getting drunk (I have had other stuff today), and that is about it.

Tap at RFD. Pours nearly jet black with with small, gray head that has okay to little retention and miniature lacing. Aroma of brown sugar, bittersweet chocolate. Rich, coating mouthfeel. Lots of semisweet chocolate then turns a bit ashy/dirty in the finish. Fairly thin bodied for an RIS- could be a richer schwarzbier. Chalky mouthfeel. This style is starting to bore me.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 beerandIT (298) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JUL 26, 2010
Pours kind of dark. This beer is not an imperial stout in my opinion, a stout but not an imperial one. Dark malts, chocolate, plum, raisins on the nose. Cream, chocolate, vanilla, slight coffee in the palate. Not all that great of an imperial stout.
