Bottle from Shawan Liquors. Pours orange with a quarter inch of khaki foam. Nice combination of pumpkin and wood on the nose. It shouldn’t work but it does somehow. It’s balanced. The same is true on the tongue though vanilla also comes out. Finishes clean. Very Nice!

THOUGHTS: Wow. That’s a lot of bourbon and wood. It was almost a little too much. It might need to age a bit longer. There was definitely some pumpkin beer flavors and aromas, but the wood and bourbon were dominant. It was better the warmer it got. It could have done a better job hiding the alcohol.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, medium amber with an average, off-white head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma was a bit hot and contained moderate caramel malt; sweet pumpkin; a little apple; vanilla; alcohol; a little spice cookie; slightly fruity pumpkin; a little pumpkin pie spice was there but underlying), but mostly it smelled like bourbon and wood. The flavor was also a bit hot. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and slightly bitter and sour; while the finish was moderate to heavily sweet with a long duration. There was mostly bourbon and wood, sweet and fruity pumpkin, vanilla, pumpkin pie spices, alcohol, caramel, and a sort of butterscotch and molasses thing. The medium to full body was a little syrupy with tingly carbonation and a moderate to heavily alcoholic finish.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but this should be a 2012 vintage. Slow gusher upon opening. Pours fairly cloudy orange amber color with a 1-2 finger foamy white head with solid retention, that reduces to a thin lacing cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big caramel, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, bourbon, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, oak, pepper, clove, and pie crust. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of barrel, malt, and spice notes. Taste of caramel, pumpkin, brown sugar, bourbon, cinnamon, nutmeg, toffee, oak, vanilla, pepper, clove, and pie crust. Lingering notes of caramel, pumpkin, brown sugar, bourbon, toffee, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, oak, and pie crust on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance of barrel/malt/spice flavors with some great complexity; and no cloying sweetness present after the finish. Barrel notes are a little strong, but it is still very well balanced. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy and slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with a decent amount of warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice barrel aged pumpkin ale. Good balance and very nice complexity of barrel/malt/spice flavors; and fairly smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

Amazingly boozy. Bourbon, bourbon, and pumpkin. Not too much spice but great level of mashed freakin pumpkin. A year or so will settle this one down for next thanksgiving. Definitely more balanced and flavorful than the BA frogs hollow.

On tap at Capones. As Damico would (and did) say "It’s boozy as f.ck!" but I like it despite the fact that it is essentially pumpkin flavored bourbon (perhaps exaggeration). Pours an amber orange color with white foam head. Has a sweet pumpkin spice and oak aroma. Sweet caramel taste with an early and often hit of bourbon. Decent.

Pours clearer amber with some small sediment and a white head that is smaller. The aroma brings the bourbon and pumpkin and sweet notes blended well. The flavors brings big bourbon notes all over the palate with a bite. The flavors also bring pumpkin and spices that blend well, but the bourbon still dominates to end the palate.

22oz bottle in a snifter. Pours deep copper with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of pumpkin, bourbon, caramel malts, and some floral to citrusy hops. Flavor the same, with a lot of pumpkin, spices, and bourbon. Smooth texture. A pretty good pumpkin beer.

Pours deep amber with a medium lt tan head...nice color and lacing. Aroma has bourbony vanilla atop pumpkin pie...almost like yams...nice blens of sweet and spicy. Flavor is bourbon heavy...some oakiness...a bit too much to let the pumpkin pie notes shine enough. Mouthfeel is medium/full and the finish is oaky/spicy and dry.
