3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber from Hop City, poured a hazy orange color with no head. Aroma was big time spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove etc.... Aside from Pumking, this smelled with the best of em. A bit of booze and maybe a touch of bourbon. Lots of spicy pumpkin flavors throughout, some bourbon but was somewhat subtle til the finish. Big time boozy bourbon barrel finish. Mouthfeel was almost creamy, decent carbonation, nice. Another good pumpkin brew with a twist.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz bottle poured into my large brandy snifter.
A- Body is a uniformly translucent pumpkin hue-its pretty cloudy. Pours with a 2 finger or so smooth, creamy white head. This slowly, eventually fades to a nice thick collar. Little lacing is left behind in the glass.
S- Pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon and brown sugar stand out the most initially. Behind this is a distinct boozy astrigency. A slight bourbon sweetness can also be detected.
T-There is a very good balance initially of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, sweet bourbon, and dry oak. Its quite complex. The finish is more astrigent-with some alcohol bitterness coming through-but the spices and pumpkin have almost equal strength. What lingers is a good bit of nutmeg and cinnamon, a hint of pumpkin-and a big alcohol warmth.
M- Medium to low carbonation with a slightly dry, spicy body with medium weight.
D- This is a very good, different pumpkin ale. The bourbon barrels add a different character-and certainly a big kick. This is clearly a strong pumkin ale that doesnít hide its booziness. Job well done by Clipper City here- one of my favorites from them.

Yar Mates, what a bloody awful concoction! Extremely boozy and cloying with very little subtlety. Pirates would probably love this shiznit, but I do not. Damn pumpkin ales! What was I think blowing my loot on this?

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle, fall 2010 vintage. Pours hazy amber/copper with a one finger off-white head that leaves good spotty lacing and holds a good cap. Aroma is pumpkin, spices: clove, ginger, cinnamon, clove, not much bourbon on the nose although good overall strength. Flavor is pumpkin, spices such as ginger, clove, nutmeg, a little cinnamon, fair bourbon whiskey, light vanilla, malty, light hop presence, alcohol makes an appearance, long spiced finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, medium carbonation, creamy. Good pumpkin beer, less bourbon than expected. A big beer that needs sharing as 22oz would be too much for one person.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours clear orange with a white head forming. Vanilla, pie, nutmeg, and other spices come through in the aroma as well as a bready dough and slight pumpkin. The flavor didnít seem to be quite as bright as the aroma with the spices overtaking the show a touch. Light pumpkin, bread, and a touch of vanilla as well.

Wow, this is a different twist on pumpkins! The bourbon barrel really stands out in the aroma and dominates the flavor as well. It pours a pretty rustic orange with a thin white head that doesnít leave much lacing. The pumpkin flavor is really low key and is there simply to compliment that bourbon flavor. Interesting and unique to anything Iíve ever had. Very good!!

Bottle poured into a snifter is slightly cloudy orange with a whie head. Aromas of vanilla, sour, booze, and spices. Taste is booze, vanilla, sour, but it all works, different than any other pumpkin beer inhale tried. Overall a very interesting a delicious beer.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Presentation: It was poured from a brown 1pt. 6oz bottle into a tulip glass. The label has its ABV (9%) and a short description but no freshness or born on date.
Appearance: The body has a deep reddish orange amber color with fine yeast sediment floating around giving it a hazy look. From the pour I got a small off white head that quickly fades to fine layer of foam with a thick ring around the edge of the glass. Lacing is good.
Smell: Right away there is a noticeable whiskey presence. Notes of the booze, the vanilla, and some oak notes mingle with honey sweet malt notes and pie spice in the nose.
Taste/Palate: Right up front I get the bourbon whiskey notes with hints of vanilla, caramel and a slight touch of oak. This plays well with the base malt which has some honey like sweetness, pie spice and a hint of pumpkin squash flavor. The finish has some sweet boozy warmth from the 9% ABV that adds to the bourbon character. It also carries some of the pie spice and some mellow hop bitterness deep into the finish.
Notes: The bourbon barrel notes were a nice touch to base pumpkin beer. I liked the lighter balance of spice here in The Greater Pumpkin Ale vs. the regular The Great Pumpkin Ale.

Aromas of nutmeg, vanilla, pumpkin, and subtle whiskey. Hazy amber with a somewhat lasting beige head. Spicy and strong, with a touch of sweetness. Medium-full bodied, smooth, and finishes with plenty of vanillin and bourbon.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma of pumpkin spice, vanilla, and very subtle hints of bourbon. Orange/amber with very slight, lacing head. Medium, mouth-filling body. A bit sweet, good carbonation, with a nice alcohol warmth in finish. This is a really nice pumpkin beer... not too heavy, good flavors, but not overly sweet.
