THOUGHTS: Wow. Thatís a lot of bourbon and wood. It was almost a little too much. It might need to age a bit longer. There was definitely some pumpkin beer flavors and aromas, but the wood and bourbon were dominant. It was better the warmer it got. It could have done a better job hiding the alcohol.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, medium amber with an average, off-white head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma was a bit hot and contained moderate caramel malt; sweet pumpkin; a little apple; vanilla; alcohol; a little spice cookie; slightly fruity pumpkin; a little pumpkin pie spice was there but underlying), but mostly it smelled like bourbon and wood. The flavor was also a bit hot. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and slightly bitter and sour; while the finish was moderate to heavily sweet with a long duration. There was mostly bourbon and wood, sweet and fruity pumpkin, vanilla, pumpkin pie spices, alcohol, caramel, and a sort of butterscotch and molasses thing. The medium to full body was a little syrupy with tingly carbonation and a moderate to heavily alcoholic finish.

Way to much bourbon flavor for me. Could not get past the alcohol flavor and sadly that is not a flavor I like.

Aromas of pie spice, oak and bourbon. Orange color with a thin white head. Definite bourbon flavor with enough pumpkin ale substance to stand up to the ABV. Lingering pumpkin and alcohol flavor. Very cool take on pumpkin ale, but youíll want to split this one with a friend or call a cab home.

9/23/2010. From bottle. Sampled together with the Great Pumpkin. This one is a little more complex and the added alcohol make it more interesting. Spice, pumpkin and malt leads the way with light hops.

Pours hazy amber color with off white head. Aromas of bourbon and pumpkin pie spices. Similar flavors. Not really a fan of pumpkin beers but this one was decent.

On draft at the monkey. Nice oak, pumpkin, spice, brandy and vanilla notes all blended together to make a really enjoyable spice brew.

Aroma of pumpkin spice, vanilla, and very subtle hints of bourbon. Orange/amber with very slight, lacing head. Medium, mouth-filling body. A bit sweet, good carbonation, with a nice alcohol warmth in finish. This is a really nice pumpkin beer... not too heavy, good flavors, but not overly sweet.

On tap at Twisted Jimmys. Really nice bourbon aroma, oaky with vanilla and lots of pumpkin spices. Deep amber hazy with thin off-white lacing head. Medium watery body with heavy carbonation. Starts sweet with bourbon, vanilla, pumpkin pie spices. Smooth oaky notes with warming and bourbon finish. Nice pumpkin beer.

11/2/13 $12.95 bomber from CBO drank out front with neighbors.
Pours an amber color with minimal head. Tastes at first like a not very sweet pumpkin beer but on the finish you can really pick up vanilla and the bourbon characteristics. Mouthfeel is creamy which is the icing on the cake of this my favorite pumpkin beer.

On draft at Tasty Bev (Raleigh).
Pours orange, which seems appropriate for a pumpkin ale. Spices come through nicely in the aroma, and dominate the taste. Pumpkin still comes through along with the bourbon.
Overall, not bad. I can see sipping this while sitting around a bonfire watching the leaves change in the Fall.
