Pour is a black with a nice sized head. Aroma is faint but there. There is some roastyness there. Flavor is chocolate and i get some of the bourbon that others have detected. Decent but does not knock you out like some impy stouts.

12 oz bottle: pour a deep dark brown, almost black. aroma of coffee chocolate and and whiskey. the bosy is kinda thin. tons of carbonation. the flavros are of coffee whiskey, a caramel. and chocolate. not alot of bitterness here. slighty fruity. a pretty average/ drinkable impy.

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2005 A little light for a imperial stout, but was very delicious. With some chocolate notes, it was a delightful beer to have in Max?s in Baltimore. Hopefully, will be able to get one of these up in the Jerz. Re-rate. A good beer and solid all around.

Very thin traces of a yellow head. A very dark brown body that isn’t quite black. Smells of bourbon and some wood. Also a hint of malty body. Fairly thin aroma for an impy stout. Taste is a toasted nut along with some bread. Closer to a dry stout than an impy.

(Bottle) Pours a black body with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and wood. Flavor of chocolate with some notes of coffee. To thin for an impy, should be classified as a regular stout.

Bottle, christams gift, my wife is great! Poured black as midnight. Head of tan with fizziness. Good lacing. Aroma ofcandy, molasses and caramel. Of, I love stouts, and this is good. Dry finish, subtle hops, mouth feel like a bite of bitter sweet belgium dark chocolate. The roasted malts awaken dreams of full glasses and good company. I will drink this again with pleasure!

TAR (2346) - Lafayette, Colorado, USA - DEC 19, 2004
UPDATED: DEC 27, 2007 Unfiltered, penetrable ruby. Dense, fast-surfacing bubbles with a pearl gray head. Sugary with notes of airy roast and hazelnut coffee in the aroma. Estery alcohol, smoke, meaty port, and molasses whispers. Soft, compact carbonation. Quite mellow but sharply textured with cocoa, sugar, and grainy roast. Less fruity than the aroma suggests with a only a dash of dried currants. Roasty, but not overly so, backed with a late surge of char and minty hop astringency. Puffy malt and smoky underlay sustains the thinnish body and releases notes of toffee and pronounced Crystal firmness. Ends with woody roast dryness, cocoa-dusted caramelized sugar, and lingering smoky molasses hints. More like a Baltic Porter crossed with a timid Stout. Decent.

pours a dark brown color with a nice lasting head. aroma is roasted and not a whole lot else going on but still rather nice. flavor is nice if not a bit subdued. I wish it were more assertive because the flavor are really nice. nuts, some currant fruit. body is a tad more thin than you would expect from an imperial stout but it doesn’t detract imho.

pineypower (2149) - Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA - DEC 17, 2004
Pours out a dark brown with some sediment and little head. The aroma is rather roasty with notes of semi-weet chocolate. The taste is not very complex with a rather watery palate for an Imperial Stout. I got a bad taste of bitter chololate and stale coffee dominating, with few redeeming qualities. Terrible as far as an Imp stout goes

muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - DEC 16, 2004
12 oz bottle, courtesy of the most generous Jeffin. Dark not-quite opaque color, smallish lasting tan head...heavily roasty nose, mocha and medium-sweet chocolate and some cigar ash....roasty, dry body, somewhat boring at first, but hints of baked cherries and caramel/chocolate sweetness develop later, bit too much carbonation, somewhat light body. Drinkable but fairly weak Imperial.
