The beer is a dry Imperial Stout - creamy and rich with color as black as night. It has aromas of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, hints of molasses, toffee and caramel in the taste. Clipper City will produce only a small batch, so availability is extremely limited. IBU’S: 30 Malts: Crisp English Pale, Crisp Crystal, Chocolate and Roasted Barley Hops: Styrian Goldings, Fuggles Magnum and Amarillo

Solid stout. Well rounded, not overly aggressive on any note. If you want to try a stout to start off, this is a great choice.

Transfer from BA review on 9-2-12- Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – Pours a lightly transparent black color thin a one finger tan head. The head has moderate retention but fades to give a lighter level of lacing. Smell – The aroma is a mix of dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and some dark fruits and caramel smells which sweeten up the aroma. It is light overall, but pleasant. Taste – The taste begins with the roasted malt and some more bitter coffee flavors up front. Soon a sweeter caramel and chocolate flavor come to the tongue. There is a light hop flavor that also enters the profile, helping balance both the sweet and roast. In the end the sweetness fades some again and a very light alcohol flavor comes into the taste, giving a light warming feel on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the creamier and thicker side with the carbonation level being lower. Both are rather standard for an imperial stout and good for the roasted flavors of the brew. Overall – Not a bad brew to give a try. It has some nice roasted flavors as well as a complementing sweet taste that create a rather pleasing taste. Well worth a try.

Don’t see why this beer gets shit on so hard, it’s actually pretty solid. Just because it doesn’t blow you away with 1000 IBU’s (which don’t really belong in decent impy stouts anyway), it still is a very fucken good beer.
Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Aromas of molasses, dark fruit and tobacco. Some cigarette butts. Mouthfeel is medium, this actually reminds me of a really nice Baltic porter. Light alcohol on the tongue. Finished semi dry with some roast and musty tobacco/ash. I like this beer.

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2014 Bottle: Dark brown, light shining through at the edges. Barely any head; just a timid khaki skin & moderate ring. Aroma is unimpressive. Quiet stout backing of roasted & dark malts, light cocoa powder, a hint of sweetness... Not offensive, just lazy for the style. Taste is similar, though with a little more depth. Light roast, toasted malt, hint of coffee bean, bitter cocoa powder, very modest amount of residual brown sugar sweetness in the finish. Touch of ashy/lefty hops in the periphery, aftertaste with a kiss of coffee bean. Mouth feel is depressingly thin for a stout... Watery, almost. Medium bodied at best. Mild alcohol presence... Kind of just... Meh.

Reminds me of Old Dominion Oak Barrel Stout. The texture is very thin, but the test is great. Just the right amount of coffee, chocolate, hoppy taste. However, there is a slightly metallic aftertaste, which is why the beer didn’t rank higher.

The Peg Leg is a good craft beer, but the body is lacking when it comes to an imperial.

Ok brew, def not a favorite of mine. Pour is a nice pitch black which is great for an imperial stout, but the flavor is weak and a bit lacking.

An okay imperial stout with a decent chocolate and coffee backbone, but really nothing that differentiates this from its competition.
