The beer is a dry Imperial Stout - creamy and rich with color as black as night. It has aromas of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, hints of molasses, toffee and caramel in the taste. Clipper City will produce only a small batch, so availability is extremely limited. While I found this to be drinkable, it was far from being anything special. Average at best.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark with a medium size tan head. Looks thin, not very viscous for an impy. Aroma of dark chocolate and roasted malts. Flavor of charred peat, roasted Malts and dark chocolate. Easy to drink and smooth, just a little thin.

Tasted on tap in a mini Willybecher glass at the 2015 Schlafly Repeal of Prohibition Festival. It poured a near-opaque dark brown colour with beige foam and lace. Fairly true-to-style strong stout characteristics (malty, toasty, roasty, hints of fruit and coffee) but a bit too chocolatey and sticky sweet for me. It lacked any distinctly English malt traits (bready, nutty, biscuity) and none of the dark stone fruit tartness of classic porters and stouts. Medium body and carbonation, full mouthfeel, residual caramelized sweetness. Not great.

12 oz into tulip. Poured dark with light tan foamy head, 2 fingers thick. Very bready malty aroma. Lightly sweet taste with a very lightly bitter finish, which is somewhat long lasting. Malty taste with a very light roast almost toasty notes. Maybe some coffee and wood. Medium to full bodied with a somewhat slick thick texture and soft carbonation. Overall, the malts stood out the most. Very little, if any, rootedness. Almost taste more like a double bock than an imperial stout. Other than that, a decent tasting beer but nothing great.

Draught @ NYC Craft Beer Festival. Dark brown with small foamy beige head, coffee aroma, full body, low carbonation, mocha taste, long finish. A nice stout!

Bottle to shaker glass. Pours black, no light shining though. Firm big brown head, nice lacing and retention. Aroma of chocolate and dark malt. Tastes vey sweet, bitterness seaming to come from the roasted malts. Full bodied, seems moderately carbonated, creamy mouth feel. Finishes sweet with tasting notes of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and a little alcohol. Well done.

A good imperial stout. Simple malts. Not overly bitter. Coffee taste. A little chocolate taste. A good but not great imperial stout ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A good imperial. Can only have a couple or you feel full. Rich thick color. Bitter taste but warm and strong the way I like my coffee

12 ounce bottle into snifter, best before 2/10/2015. Pours pitch black color with a 1 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toast, toffee, dark bread, molasses, light licorice, light char, light herbal, and roasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted/bready malt and light earthy hop notes; with decent strength. Taste of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toast, toffee, dark bread, molasses, light licorice, light char, light herbal, and roasted earthiness. Light amount of herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toast, toffee, dark bread, molasses, light char, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness and complexity of dark/roasted/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a good roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice imperial stout style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/roasted/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Dark pour from bottle. Toasty roast malts, a bit burn and chocolate. Nothing more here.
