Light sweet toasty malt and chocolate aroma. Rich, lightly sweet malt flavor and a hint of chocolate. Hops are very light as is roasted malt on the whole. More of a dark barleywine or a Sam Smiths type stout than the vast majority of highly roasty and bitter stouts made in the US today. Easy drinking but not really my kind of stout. I just tend to want more hop and roast bitterness.

Run of the mill imp stout. Flavor is thinner and everything is lighter. This is a imperial stout light. Not a bad beer but closer to a regular stout.

Pours a black from a bottle with quickly dissipating khaki head, minimal lacing. Aroma of chocolate, Moxie cola, but it even smells dry. Flavor is overly roasted, not quite burnt but bitter brownies maybe where someone forgot to add sugar. Not that I miss the sweetness of other stouts, the dryness is probably the most interesting thing going on here. A total score of 2 might be a little harsh, but after trying their Siren Noire I’m a little surprised at how not awesome this is.

Farbe tief schwarz.

Mal was Anderes und sehr gut.

While I found this to be drinkable, it was far from being anything special. Average at best.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark with a medium size tan head. Looks thin, not very viscous for an impy.
Aroma of dark chocolate and roasted malts.
Flavor of charred peat, roasted Malts and dark chocolate.
Easy to drink and smooth, just a little thin.

Tasted on tap in a mini Willybecher glass at the 2015 Schlafly Repeal of Prohibition Festival. It poured a near-opaque dark brown colour with beige foam and lace. Fairly true-to-style strong stout characteristics (malty, toasty, roasty, hints of fruit and coffee) but a bit too chocolatey and sticky sweet for me. It lacked any distinctly English malt traits (bready, nutty, biscuity) and none of the dark stone fruit tartness of classic porters and stouts. Medium body and carbonation, full mouthfeel, residual caramelized sweetness. Not great.

12 oz into tulip. Poured dark with light tan foamy head, 2 fingers thick. Very bready malty aroma. Lightly sweet taste with a very lightly bitter finish, which is somewhat long lasting. Malty taste with a very light roast almost toasty notes. Maybe some coffee and wood. Medium to full bodied with a somewhat slick thick texture and soft carbonation. Overall, the malts stood out the most. Very little, if any, rootedness. Almost taste more like a double bock than an imperial stout. Other than that, a decent tasting beer but nothing great.

Bottle to shaker glass. Pours black, no light shining though. Firm big brown head, nice lacing and retention. Aroma of chocolate and dark malt. Tastes vey sweet, bitterness seaming to come from the roasted malts. Full bodied, seems moderately carbonated, creamy mouth feel. Finishes sweet with tasting notes of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and a little alcohol. Well done.
