3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
tasted at Blacksburg Brew Do - itís obviously a saison with spice and orange on the nose, malty sweetness and spice on the palate with a bit of citrus as well; like it a lot

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
12 oz bottle into a Duvel tulip.
A: Pours an absolutely beautiful amber color. The head is a two finger white shade. Its texture is creamy, and it fades away relatively quick. Lacing is streaky at first, but becomes more sheetlike as the head goes away. Itís not really saison like in appearance - even so, this is damn gorgeous.
S: This has a lot in the way of candied sugar and phenols. Notes of coriander and sage are also present, but otherwise, this one seems too sweet for the style.
T: Ayup, too damn sweet. An initial taste of phenols gives way to some mild spicing...and hardly mild candied sugar. Not only is it rather sugary, but the finish is a bit boozy. Nothing too harsh, though.
M: Syrupy, under-carbonated, hefty, lifeless - everything I DONíT want from a saison. Drinkability isnít great, either, but by no means is it completely undrinkable.
O: Look, itís not really a bad BSPA at all. Itís just a bad saison: the only characteristic Heavy Seas got right is the spice flavor, and thatís simply too mild. Not only is it too sweet for a saison, itís too sweet for a regular Belgian pale ale. I donít plan to revisit this one.

Decent saison. Correct characteristics but not very well rounded. Nothing above average.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Taco Mac. Clear medium amber with a foamy white head that dissipates to a persistent cap; fair amount of lacing. Aroma is Belgian yeast, banana and clove. Moderately sweet with a clean finish. Body is light with active carbo. Decent, but not something Iíd seek out in the Saison category.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Shawan Liquors. Pours golden with a thin white head. A little friuity on the nose. Not as funky on the tongue as I was hoping for. I get fruity but its a bit one note. At least the finish is clean.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Big Top Beverage Mart, Roslyn variety case: Pours light copper with a white head. Aroma is bubblegum, saison funk, and mild fruitiness. Taste is a sweet load of bubblegum. Ainít bad, but with my favourite style I expect more.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Great example of a Belgian styled beer. If you want American style hops, go somewhere else. Spicy, banana, all the Belgian flavors you expect.

Bottle. Musty sugary banana and spicy peppery aroma. Clear brassy gold with a large off-white head. Musty fruit, Belgian yeast, spicy peppery flavor. Creamy body, on the light side of full, lively carbonation.
