Riptide white IPA is a beer brewed with a malt body similar to a Belgian style Wit with loads of torrified wheat. It’s hopped like an IPA, but we use a unique blend of Czech Saaz, French Strisselspalt, Calypso, Centennial and Cascade hops to create a big citrus nose and flavor with floral accents. To complete the feel of the wit style, we push the beer through our hopback which is loaded with Spanish sweet orange peel, Curaçao bitter orange peel, coriander, and a generous helping of hops. It’s fermented with a classic Belgian Wit yeast which provides all of the fruity and spicy notes you’d expect. We then blast the tank with our hop cannon which is loaded with Calypso, Strisselspalt, and Citra hops and more orange peel. The beer is then lightly filtered to retain all of the exceptional yeast character.

12oz bottle. Best before 9/2013. Mostly clear golden orange color. Mildly hazy with lots of fine particles in the body. Thin off-white head. Decent lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of crisp lighter carbonation, sort of a light creaminess to the texture, more dry in the finish. Lightly spicy coriander in the nose, some wit-yeast. Orange, other citrus flavors. Some light spicy, herbal hop notes. Zesty sweet taste, light bitter. Pretty solid, satisfyingly complex white IPA.

Augusta, Ga - Toast Wine and Beverage - 12 oz bottle. Slightly murky, light orange pour, thin white head. Aroma of bubble gum and coriander. Flavor has a a dollop of yeast, some sweet cake mix doughy notes, a touch of coriander spiciness, just a hint of citrus bitterness. Mouthfeel has a nice spritz to it. More like a wit than an IPA.

Pours nearly clear apple-gold with a short, thin tan head. Aroma is sweetly malty, orange, hops. Taste is like a Belgian Wit but hopped like an IPA..... citrus, florals, orange, wheat.... Very good and different.

Keg pour during Annapolis 5K beer run. Great hazy gold color with frothy white head and some lacing. Decent aroma with bready malts and some noticeable hop character. Good flavor with grassy and citrus hops throughout with supporting biscuit and cereal malt and light fruit esters. Medium body and low carbonation.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a slightly hazy light gold with a thin white film on top for a head. The nose has a good bit of spice, yeast, and clove. There is a slight herbal quality to it as well. Fairly light on the tongue. The orange peel and clove are the two most dominant notes on the palate with a little bit of doughy yeast and zesty spiciness. The bitterness on the back end seems at odds with the rest of the brew though. The two side of this coin aren’t quite working together.
