4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy dark tan head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweet and toasty vanilla, cocoa and a bit of whiskey. The flavor was sweet and toasty vanilla cream, marshmallow, anise and rum. Long finish. Thick, creamy and smooth body. Excellent.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Moderate to heavy toasted, molasses and dark chocolate for the malt, moderate resin and herbs for the hops, light earth for the yeast, with notes of raisin, tar, cola, and whiskey. Head is small, frothy, tan with spotyy lacing and good legs, and is almost fully diminishing. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet with a long bitter end. Palate is medium to full, between oily and creamy, with a carbonation on the soft side of lively and a finish that’s moderately alcoholic and sticky. Nice and bold, a little too sweet for an Imperial Stout, but the bourbon barrel adds good depth making it even easier to sip the whole bomber down.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Just what you want in an imperial stout. Rich dark chocolate color, smooth and smoky forward palate and enough residual sugars to soften 9.5%ABV finish. You have to work at it to keep from downing it too fast.
Added to my favorites.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
It’s solid black in color, topped by a small, but frothy, light brown head. A potent bourbon aroma ejected itself from the bottle as soon as I poured it into the glass, but once in the glass the nose is a very enticing balance of chocolate and bourbon. Some roasted malts may be at play here, but they’re overpowered by the chocolate and bourbon. This is a wonderfully soft beer, and the bourbon barrel aging (even if it was only for a few weeks) was just enough to make it taste like bourbon-soaked wood. The flavor is interesting... dark chocolate and bourbon, yes, but with a noticeable fruitiness. Figs and vanilla come through strongly in the finish. It’s warm, rich, and very well-blended. Bourbon is strong without being too much over the top, and the amount of alcohol in this is complimentary to the bourbon flavor. It’s so clean, so soft, and so smooth. It’s all about chocolate and bourbon with vanilla and figs... no bitterness or harsh flavors from roasted malts... superb!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle in a snifter. Pours black with a lacy, tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, a little coffee, very light vanilla/oak, and light bitterness. Flavor the same with a nice blend of everything. Average texture. It’d be nice if brewers stopped "aging" beers for a few weeks and allowed the beer to have some time in the barrels. Quit wasting bourbon barrels and let the beer sit in there for at least half a year.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark beer out of the bottle with a short lived brown head. Juicy nose of ripe fruit, chocolate, roasted grains and alcohol. Flavors of dried fruit, raisin, molasses, chocolate candy and alcohol that I assume comes from the bourbon. Nice warming alcoholic chocolate beer.

3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a head of foamy finely sized light brown colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque dark brown colored body and a fair lacing. The aroma was hoppy and brown malt. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of roasted malt and hops. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. bomber. Onyx black with a wispy khaki head and a bit of lacing. Smell is baker's chocolate, espresso, dark fruit, roasted malt and booze. Flavor is similar, nothing too overbearing, good balance of chocolate and roast and a pleasant backdrop of coffee and vanilla. The sweetness of the chocolate lingers mildly in the tip of the tongue between sips, along with a slightly spicy hop note. Mouth feel is dense and smooth. Delicious beer.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Total Wine in Boca Raton, FL. Snifter. Shared at Syb Pig at a bottle share. Pours a very dark brown with tan thin head. The aroma was very nice with chocolate, caramel, bourbon, wood, and vanilla. The taste was not quite as bold as the aroma with chocolate, lactose, caramel, light marsh mellow, vanilla and dark fruits. The bourbon alcohol taste was strong. Mouth was smooth and full bodied. Finish was mostly alcohol and chocolate. Not bad.

Pour out of 22 oz bottle, thanks Amy! Thick black pour, nice creamy tan head, aroma brought notes of bakers chocolate, dark cocoa, nice earth, slight hint of oak, dark fruits, touch of bourbon and caramel in there as well. Taste is a mix of dark fruits, dark chocolate, toffee, nice oak and slight bourbon, finishing fairly sweet, slight dryness. Pretty tasty!
