COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This yearís Siren Noire Imperial Chocolate Stout has been revamped. Weíve aged it for three weeks in bourbon barrels, which gives the beer darker notes of raisin and fig. Weíve also tripled the amount of chocolate nibs and added vanilla bean. A mix of dark malts gives Siren Noire a well-rounded body that is decidedly chocolateyóbut without being extraordinarily sweet. Mt. Hood hops contribute a fruity hop profile, with notes of black currant.

Pour out of 22 oz bottle, thanks Amy! Thick black pour, nice creamy tan head, aroma brought notes of bakers chocolate, dark cocoa, nice earth, slight hint of oak, dark fruits, touch of bourbon and caramel in there as well. Taste is a mix of dark fruits, dark chocolate, toffee, nice oak and slight bourbon, finishing fairly sweet, slight dryness. Pretty tasty!

Rustico, Arlington tap: Pours black with a creamy beige head. Aroma is butterscotch, vanilla, whiskey, and chocolate, but mostly butterscotch. Taste is sweet with lots of chocolate and vanilla. Body is nice and creamy, I got a bit fruitiness in there as well. Not a bad sweet imperial stout.

UPDATED: JUN 13, 2013 Pitch black pour with a feathery lingering head thatís khaki in color. Lacing from foam is clinging to the glass. Aroma of sweet dark chocolate with bourbon accents backing up the malt. Round milk chocolate taste with thin lingering finish of bourbon vanilla and a mild 80% dark cocoa finish. Nice dry powdery dark chocolate lingeringfor some time on the palate.

UPDATED: JUN 8, 2013 Thanks to Bert for this beautiful bottle from Maryland. Poured black, completely opaque and with a very thin head that fell immediately to a thin ring. Some lace. Nose is sweet, creamy chocolate. Coffee, roast and toffee malt. There was a brief hint of dark fruits but that disappeared fast. As it warmed there was a little toast, a lot of vanilla, a bit of cola and the alcohol crept in. First sip gave me a strong shot of something more vegetable than fruit, A cooked taste that I really didnít like. Then the chocolate took over mid palate. It wants to be deeply sweet and creamy but the mouthfeel is thin and a little watery. Thereís a lot of vanilla on the palate and a little cola too and the flavors donít quite come together but remain separate. Itís without depth. There is some roast and some pretty oily bitter in the dry finish. Thereís an oaky bourbon like quality and it even has a vinous aspect. The malt is weak and that is this beerís downfall. It starts with a seductive nose but thereís that vegetal quality and then itís not really full.

(bottle - 22 oz) Dark brown pour with a thick tan head. Big roasted malt and bourbon sweetness in the aroma. Lots of chocolate as well. Flavor is loaded with chocolate, roasted malt and coffee flavors and and really smooth bourbon vanilla finish. Some slight sweetness at the finish but not overpoweringly so.

22 ounce bottle. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head. Head retention and lacing were both decent enough. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, roasted malt, and some caramel. It tastes like milk and bittersweet chocolate, roasted and burnt/charred malt, bourbon, vanilla, and a bit of coffee. Taste is a little more bitter in comparison to the aroma which I thought was sweeter. The bourbon isnít overpowering at all, but still noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium, itís a bit creamy and slick with good carbonation. I liked this brew, itís definitely worth a try.
