Small Craft exemplifies a robust pilsneróitís crisp, well-carbonated, and slightly sweet. The beer is characterized by a firm malt backbone and a pronounced hop character. A fine aroma, from an array of hops, completes this quaffable beer.

Apricot pour, nice white head. Floral, lemony pils hops, bready aroma with notes of prunes and berries. Flavor is zesty noble hops with fruity malt kick.

Aroma is oily. Citrus. Lemon orange. A subtle spicy nice like a black pepper. Looks fine. Hazy pumpkin color. Little head. Taste is like the smell. Subtle hop oils on the palate but not too bad. Subtle peppery note. Orange. Alcohol on the finish. Malty finish. Palate is light medium body. Carbonation is smooth. Taste is smooth. I am surprised at how solid this beer is. Not anything I would go out of my way to buy but a solid beer to drink.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours an amber color. The head is a one finger off-white shade with a nice, creamy texture. While the retention isnít the best, it does leave some lacing behind on the glass. S: Itís kind of hard to decide whatís in the aroma. Okay, I pick up some floral hops, and maybe some herbs, as well. Oh, and some nondeScript citrus tones. The malts in particular are too strange for me to like this aroma. A shame. T: If the aroma was somewhat indecipherable, then the flavor is almost totally indecipherable. I get wisps of defined notes - herbs, grass, citrus, ginger, malt - in random places, but nothing that pops out. This beer is messy and, frankly, not very good. Itís also metallic. M: Full and creamy, yet not too sweet. Normally, Iíd enjoy that, but since I donít like the flavor, itís hard to approve of the mouthfeel, either. Carbonation could be a little stronger. O: Meh. Every once in a while sipping this, Iíll think "hey, itís a decent brew", and then the next sip later, I go back to think "meh, donít like this very much". And there are even some sips where I consider a drainpour. Luckily, I toughed this one out - and I can safely say this is the only one Iíll tough out.

For seven percent, itís very smooth. Not spicy like most pilsner, itís crafted to go down easy with more body than the macro brewers provide. I might enjoy more complexity, but still, would drink again.

Perfectly fine pils from Heavy Seas, although I feel like other styles of theirs are more reliable.

Bears little resemblance to a lager with a thick creamy body and a rounded slightly fruity character. Very low on both aromas and flavors. Some alcohol warming in the chest but no alcohol flavor despite strength.

4 oz draft pour at Heavy Seas Alehouse in Baltimore. Clear golden yellow with off-white head. Aromas of sweet malt, honey, light floral notes. Tastes of sweet malt, caramel, tropical fruit, honey. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Medium carbonation.

Transfer from BA review on 9-6-12 - Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance Ė Pours a clear golden-amber color with a thick one finger white head. The head has fantastic retention eventually fading to give nice lacing. Smell Ė The smell is bready and sweet. A caramel and toffee sweetness mixed with a biscuit maltiness. There is also a light hoppy aroma as well, although this is very light. Taste Ė A smooth bready and doughy flavor meets the tongue. There is a lighter caramel sweetness up front that grows stronger more toward the middle of the taste. In the middle the sweet and bready taste create a rather smooth sweetness. At the end a very light hoppy flavor of an earthy and citrus nature as well as some alcohol flavor comes to combine with the rest of the flavors. While perturbing the smooth taste of the brew, it did bring an element of change and ended up leaving a somewhat pleasing Mouthfeel Ė The body of the beer was rather creamy with only a light carbonation level. Very nice for the smooth bready flavors of the beer. Overall Ė It is a very tasty and soothing brew with some nice sweet bready flavors. One to sit back and enjoy.

Purchase by December 2013. Uh, oh. 12oz bottle poured into stange. Lovely auburn color with thin white head that quickly fades. No lacing. Aroma indicates oxidation, but caramel malt comes through. Flavor is pleasantly malty, however tinny oxidation is hard to get over. Medium body, creamy texture, lower carbonation, semi-dry finish. Drank a quarter and then drain poured, but would definitely give a fresh one a shot.
