COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This year’s Siren Noire Imperial Chocolate Stout has been revamped. We’ve aged it for three weeks in bourbon barrels, which gives the beer darker notes of raisin and fig. We’ve also tripled the amount of chocolate nibs and added vanilla bean. A mix of dark malts gives Siren Noire a well-rounded body that is decidedly chocolatey—but without being extraordinarily sweet. Mt. Hood hops contribute a fruity hop profile, with notes of black currant.

Tap at heavy seas in Baltimore with commonmac and rosskyle and samadouche. Black with medium off white tan head. Smells roasted and chocolate. Chocolate, roasted malt, full body. Good sweetness. Fairly typical for a chocolate stout.

$7.99 for a BBA stout? Sign me up. Opaque pour with voluminous wet sand head, diminishing to a softly encompassing halo hung along the contours of my glass. Stiff lacing holds for a moment, then densely slides down to meet the dark body.
Aroma boasts milk chocolate mocha, dulce de leche, caramelized vanilla from the barrel, gentle dried fig and licorice. Textbook BBA stout.
Flavor exhibits the same as the nose, some more dark syrupy berry, alcohol heat blooms and creates a dry finish. Chocolatey, modestly bitter, fairly thin body (but I actually enjoy it), and a licorice, dark plum, gently mineraly graphite finish.
Three weeks in bourbon barrels adds quite a lot to aroma and flavor without being too explosively oaky and bourbony. Easily one of the most drinkable BBA stouts for a great value.

2016 bottle date. Pours an opaque dark brown color with khaki colored head. Even though it’s aged for a short time in barrels, it has a ton of bourbon on the nose with some vanilla bean, chocolate, and oak; follows onto the palate. Medium to full bodied. Finishes with barrel, chocolate, and vanilla. Nicely done.

650ml bottle from Total Wine in Jensen Beach/Stuart. 2016 version shared with bananabi11 while watching the NCAA Championship game. Chocolate, vanilla, roast. Very well balanced. Very tasty. Very smooth. This one is underrated .... Heavy Seas best! 15.4

Bottle, black, thick, decent almond colored head. Aroma toasted barley, oak, chocolate, booze, hint of wet dog, and raisin. Taste is chocolate, oak, bourbon, molasses, burnt sugar. Palate is rich and thick, carbonation moderate. The finish is pretty oaky, beer is sorta sweet in the middle, but dry on the finish.

Pours a dark brown color with a foamy light brown head. Notes of dried cherries, dark chocolate, and a decent amount of vanilla. Different.

Pours black with a nice tan head. Aroma is chocolate with a little booze. Taste is bitter chocolate upfront but gets sweeter as it goes. A little hoppy bitterness at the end. Very chocolate taste but not too sweet as advertised. Very good imperial stout!
