3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
A nice amber hue with a soft ring of off-white head. Aroma is a mild sticky hopiness of light pine-citrus. This beer definitely coats your mouth in the citrus, then pine hop dominance that lingers quire well; solid, moderately sweet body underneath. A solid DIPA. I would say that the oak character is underplayed to the point where I might not have noticed it, if the label didn’t mention it.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured into a snifter.
3.5 A: Clear orange amber color. One and a half fingers of creamy beige head. Retention is about what you’d expect from a beer this big and a short ring of lacing is left.
3.5 S: What we have here is a balanced DIPA. Strong maltiness blends quite well with nearly as strong hoppiness. Tons of caramel in this with a toasty backbone. Hops are primarily floral with some citrus, herbalness, and earth underneath. The oak is a nice bonus adding in it’s unique flavor and hints of vanilla. Booze is supremely well hidden. Overall it’s fairly simple, but it’s pleasant.
3.5 T: Like the nose, this is balanced in the taste. Toasty malts featuring layers of caramel, apple, and notes of peach. Mild to moderate bitterness. Hops are again floral in nature, but there is some orange and a touch of pine and earth. The oak again brings it all together. Booze is well hidden.
3.25 M: Heavier medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Sticky, resiny feel here, which I’m not crazy about. Otherwise, good enough.
3.5 D: Decent beer worth a try. There a good balance here, but neither the hops nor the malts are particularly spectacular. Still, not bad.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft notes from Craft Ale. Pours hazy copper with off-white head. Nose was caramel malt, oak, hops, fruit. Tasted malty, caramelly, somewhat sweet, pretty dense on the tongue, with a caramel malt flavor up front, then notes of hops, fruit, and oaky vanilla.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle: pours a nice amber color with a light tan head. Aromas are fruity and citrusy hops, with a splash of hops. Taste is nice, pine and citrus from the hops, oakiness and finishes clean. This is very nice! Refreshing alternative to lots of other oaked beers.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Received in a trade from vlan1 and opened at an esbls. This offered big hops that did not work for me along with wood, vanilla, and big malts. Tadsty but the hops were off.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber from Wegman’s Lake Manassas. Pours a clear copper color with a thin frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of wood, spicy, citrus and herbal hops, pale biscuit malts with just a touch of caramel. The taste is citrus hops, candied citrus, caramel malts, wood. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, moderate lingering bitterness and a good bit of sweetness. Almost too much. Decent.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. bomber. Hazy orangish amber with a thin off-white head and really good lacing. Smell is caramel, raisins, piney hops, citrus, and definitely oak and vanilla come through as well. Taste is big, lots hops and caramel. Also the oak and bittering hops play well off each other, with the vanilla and caramel notes lingering on the tip of the tongue. Has many of the characteristics of a barleywine, big and complex. Noticeable alcohol, but not as a negative. Has a big beer mouthfeel that coats your palate in between sips. This is a good one.
