3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bomber into snifter glass, clear deep ruby red color with light tan head. Aroma of caramel malt, ginger and some spiced rum. Taste adds gingersnap cookies (really), some vanilla, bready, dried fruit, light earthy hops and some booze. Heavy body, low carbonation, sweet, creamy with dry slight-tannic finish. This really is a good Christmas beer, liquid ginger snaps and rum.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Medium Copper, thin tan head. Liquor and caramel nose. The label says rum barrels, but I taste whiskey. Sweet malt undertones, with a slight bitter hop finish. Very smooth and creamy. Nice winter beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft@ Roanoke VA Rare Beer Festival 2014: Caramel and ginger nose. Clear rust, medium tan head. Ginger is dominant, caramel base. Alcohol noticeable but pleasant, medium body. Little rum character save for the presence of alcohol. Impressive.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cool Santa Claus label. This is a red ale aged in rum barrels. There is a little rum in the mild aroma. It tastes smooth and sweet, with pleasant rum tones and light, spicy notes. The ABV is hidden remarkably well, and hops are barely present. Another nice one from Heavy Seas/Clipper City.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, 2013 vintage. Pours slightly hazy dark ruby red color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of caramel, toast, toffee, molasses, brown bread, raisin, plum, fig, ginger, rum, oak, clove, vanilla, and herbal earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, ginger, and oak barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big caramel, toast, toffee, molasses, brown bread, raisin, plum, fig, ginger, vanilla, rum, oak, clove, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, molasses, brown bread, raisin, plum, fig, ginger, vanilla, oak, clove, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, ginger, and rum barrel flavors; with an awesome malt/barrel balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a moderately creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent barrel aged spiced imperial red ale. All around great balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, ginger, and rum barrel flavors; and extremely smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A bit unusual but it grew on me. The aroma has ginger and vanilla and some other spices. The flavor has the ginger and vanilla, is quite sweet and a bit syrupy. Very warming for a cold winters night.

Smells like tequila and Worcestershire. Dark maple red body and light off white head. Strong ginger and alcohol flavors and some random citrus. Smooth a lot of alc notes.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A lot of ginger on the nose, rum, and brown sugar. Somewhat hazy red with a moderately lasting off-white head. Dry, malty, alcoholic, with strong flavors of rum and ginger. Medium-full bodied, very smooth, spicy.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sample from a cask at ACAT 2014. Pours dark red, with a small, beige head. The aroma is white bread, maple, pine, black tea, and ginger. Very sweet, with a mellow, drying bitterness. Medium body, malty, and boozy. Overall, this is a delicious, and very interesting beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sample at ACAT 2014. Smooth candy sugar flavor with very mild hops. Buttery rum barrel definitely comes through and is probably the most dominant flavor I get from the cask. Light caramel malt body and flavors. Pretty drinkable.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
2oz sample at International Great Beer Expo (Meadowlands). Pours brown in color with a small tan head. Aroma is strange. Lemon, Lysol, spice, and roasted malt. Taste is slightly sour, spices, caramel, and roasted malt. Was not a fan of this!
